Cycled this morning 6:30am, 31 Km Avg 21.2 Kph, Max 52.11 Kph The air was cool, the Rosellas were out in huge numbers, and like to race the bike, sheep on the road, 1 car passed in 30Km. The lovely silence was broken, only by the distant so bbing of Cricket fans all the way from London, we whupped the Poms at Cricket, we spanked their collective bottoms, and we now have the treasured Urn back where it belongs. The Urn returns.........

For all you non-cricket fans, the urn has not actually returned to Australia...and it never will. These days they 'swap' an empty reproduction, the original urn with the Ashes is safely locked away in the Museum at Lord's in London. But Rod was right...the Poms were whupped !! It's a bad week. First the Ashes, then last night my team were knocked out of the Cup [soccer] and I was outbid on a GB Exhibition item which is already twice over catalogue !! Now I need to decide whether to bid again. Thanks Rod for rubbing it in !!

Nice to see you take it in the manner intended, all good fun, we love the Pom's (after all, I am one myself) but it's just part of the game of cricket. It is a fantastic series, You must remember the English lads were playing in 43 degree celcius heat here in Perth. That mus have been challenging.
Looking forward to the Boxing Day Test, as usual, glued to the TV.

There's chance for us yet, perhaps a Zuzuasaurus, or a Rodasaurus. Muttaburra, derives its name from Mootaburra, Aboriginal, meaning "meeting of the waters"

Australia Post : In crisis?
I expect (contrary to recent news) that Australia Post may go private. The service of late is dreadful, I am now in my 17th day, awaiting a packet of Stamp Hinges Adelaide to Perth, which used to be "overnight"
How do I mark the poor old Ebay vendor? Not his fault.
My last shipment, 2 packets of stamp Hinges Melbourne to Perth 19 days, IIRC.
They made something like 320 Millions profit last year, yet need to cut services? I don't really get it.

Australia : The Wide Brown land and to cross it, we need vehicles, hence the 2013 offering "The Road Trip" What is most endearing to me in this car-toon series, is part of my own personal history, The Toyota FJ45 (a classic) I used to sell parts for this as my first job, The little blue car, (I think), is a Toyota "Tiara" I had one just like this when I was a hippie, (Blue too) You could not kill this thing, it just went on forever, ignoring the abuse we no doubt gave it, no wonder Toyota became such a powerhouse in later years. And the famous Lemon car, the Leyland P38 (P38 because it was only half a car) One recently sold in Sydney for $38,000

Australia A tribute to the traditional owners of Australia. Who were caretakers for 40,000 years and now share with us their beautiful Southern Land . Let us hope we see sense and recognise them in our constitution soon, it is long overdue. Gwoya Jungarai, and he died on March 28, 1965, while on walkabout with his relatives on Narweitooma cattle station, 120 miles west of Alice Springs. His exact age was not known, but he was over 70 when he died.

After 4 weeks, package arrived back at the senders address. The package was correctly addressed, Postmarked at senders PO, Marker Monkey had scrawled "R.T.S" across package.

I'm a big Dame Edna fan! One of my favourite interviews from The Dame Edna Experience was this one with kd lang. (edit - I see you now have to click through on to the YouTube link shown below, but at least it is still there!)
Sir Les Patterson will be left as an exercise for the reader. ha ha

As discussed elsewhere, there is money in Parcels.
Australia : The numbers (2012)
Mail delivery (letters) LOSS $190 millions. Overall letters and Parcels PROFIT 281 Millions
2012 Aust Post gave every Aust Post member, 100 x 60c stamps FREE for Christmas (24,000 employees = $ 1.5 millions)
Aust Post is now considering reducing household mail deliveries to 3 times per week only.

"WA REVENUE RECOVERY" CDS 25th Aug 2104 WA 6105 (Perth Airport) Story goes something like parcel was posted at the Flight Centre, failed to pass through cardboard template for normal weight rating was assessed insufficient postage, $2.10 Sender paid the outstanding, and the CDS canceller was applied.

My bird stamp icon (at left) was in the competition for that mental health stamp. I came about 43rd out of over 300 entries. A second entry of mine was down in the 60th or so position.
