The countdown to 2024 begins! What are your philatelic resolutions this year? Just for fun - check out last year’s resolutions. How did we do? thestampforum.boards.net/thread/10089/happy-year-share-philatelic-resolutionsHere are my resolutions; - Number one important goal - INVENTORY! Still need to videotape the collection for insurance. - After years of accumulating material, it’s time to assemble my Ireland collection and fill in missing items in Colnect. - Continue to find homes for all of my duplicates. - Oh so many more things I hope to accomplish, but dearest to my heart, I hope to make new stamp friends and stay in touch with my besties here. - and … HAVE FUN!

Oh wow 2024! If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself and saved more money for my old age. There are so many tasks I need to take with my collection, I almost do not know where to start. I have a pile of stamps to add to the collection that is job 1. Next, I have a ton of stamps on paper to get off paper. USA stamps will probably stay on paper depending on what Pure Citrus will work with modern US. Then I should make want lists for my most favorite countries. I need to pick an end date for Vatican and Italy and other countries as the more modern stamps are getting a bit too expensive to keep going into an already expensive collection. Last but not least decide what I am going to do with all my duplicates that are MNH, and some are fairly pricey. The chances of getting this all done in 2024 are pretty slim but goals I would like very much to achieve. . My last goal is much like Philatelia said to enjoy my newfound and longtime friends. Nick

oh boy - where to start... I'd like to finally get all my existing backlog scanned in, identified, sorted and up on the website... That alone is a long task which I may (not) complete... There's always a hope that I will fill in the gaps in my Belgian collection, and do a deeper dive into variants with the ridiculous amount of duplicates I've accumulated... And spend more time on the forum (as if work will ever let that happen...) May the holidays bring you the time to relax, the energy to be stampy, and the joy from doing what you love and being with those you care for!

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Wow, hard to believe another year has gone by already. My goal from last year was to get better organized, with a plan to eventually mount my collection on Steiner/self-made pages. I had mentioned working through a couple floor-sweeping lots.
The good news, I did finish getting those lots into country envelopes. The bad news, I bought more stamps. All in all, in terms of organization I'll call it a draw.
I did make progress in terms of how I'll house my collection. I decided printing pages and placing mounts (I despise hinges) is far too much work for my collection. I'm going with stockbooks and Vario pages/binders. Stockbooks for intermediate/not yet ready for Varios collections, and Varios for anything I really care about. I have a Scott album for my Austrian collection that will get mounts when I'm feeling ambitious, but that's where I'm drawing the line.
I discovered the other day that the vast majority of my stamping time over the past year and a half has been spent sorting through mixtures. I have not catalogued a new stamp into my collection in all that time. To remedy that, I've decided to take a break from sorting for a while so that I can focus a bit more on my collections. I've really been enjoying the various British areas while sorting, so I think it's time to work on my GB/BritEmp/BritCw stuff. I'm going to start with a pair of packets I purchased mid-2022. The first is Australia and was said to contain 3400 different. The second holds roughly 1300 different New Zealand. I'll be using Gibbons to catalogue these. I hope to have these identified and into stockbooks by the end of February. If all goes well tomorrow with a box of stuff I'm finishing up, I might be able to get started on Sunday. If not, then Monday is my last day at work until January 2nd, and I'll have plenty of time over the following two weeks.

I chat with anglobob regularly and I can state here and now he is not a Grumpy Old F**t. OK, maybe we are grumpy together just a little !! My resolution is similar to his with little or no mail in or out here and letters waiting for me in many ports. I understand his frustration. Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for 2024. Londonbus1....

I made FDCs for 20 new USPS issues in 2023 (plus three new issues from Canada). I’m hoping to match or outdo that number in 2024 - and to expand my range by servicing an FDC from at least one new country for me!

Last year I wrote I actually did start exhibiting, and so this coming year I hope to continue with that and try bigger shows.
The downside of closing in on completion of my core collections is that it is harder and harder to find those last few stamps. I need to find new countries that I can collect more casually, and easily find new material. I hate to travel to a bourse somewhere and come home empty-handed.
I still need to get into selling off, or giving away, my duplicates more systematically.

Last year I wrote: Finish my Mauritius -1945 album Finish my Denmark -1945 album (incl. DWI, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Schleswig, locals..) I ended up scrapping my Mauritius pages, and instead bought a set of Stanley Gibbons New Imperial 1840-1936 British Commonwealth albums. I did not finish Denmark (at all, got sidetracked by other projects) Overall, I did poorly... Plan for 2024:Create album pages: Finish Denmark -1930 (a lot less comprehensive than my initial project) Finish Sweden -1920 Start (and finish!) Iceland -1944 Mounting: Mount my Denmark collection into new album.
