As I was busy with identification and classification of a lot of stamp recently acquired, I come accross some Pakistan stamps with what I suppose to be military postmarks. They have circular cancel with "CAMP PO", a date and some number. I suppose that CAMP PO stand for Camp Post Office and the number should be something like a Fieldpost number. Did some expert or collector of Pakistan have more informations about those cancels? When were they used? Is there any document or website with identification of the number (to witch unit or place does it refer)? The few exemples I have are all from the 1950.

I could be very wrong, but don't get the impression this expression 'CAMP P.O." is a military reference. If you put this wording into the on line search you'll get one or two references to issues showing CAMP P.O., but I've looked at these and there doesn't seem to be any comment made about the military. My thoughts, for what they're worth, is that the expression may refer to either a temporary post office or some non-standard postal office. Sorry this isn't of any real help - hopefully someone else here will have the correct answer for you.

@paull Until now, I received two possible explanation by some collector: one say that Camp Post Office were created for Scout Jamboree, the other one say that Camp Post office were special post office used when high rank military or Governor were on tour. So I will wait and see if someone could confirm one or another.

JeffS Super! Many thanks for this usefull link. It include all the Camp PO I have. Camp PO stand effectively for camp post office, but it's not military. These are temporary post office opened during official visits or high rank officer tour.
