Hello everyone at TSF.
My name is António, I was born in Angola and I live in Portugal.
I started collecting my stamps when I was a little boy – 8/9 years old.
However, the collection was originally started by my father, when we were living in Angola.
For a long time my professional career did not allow me to pay real attention to my stamps.
Now I'm retired and I can spend much more time looking after my stamps.
My collection is made up almost entirely of stamps from Portugal (1853/...) and Angola – a Portuguese colony (1870/1974) and also as independent country (from 1975/...).
I'm really happy to join this community and learn more about this fascinating hobby with you.
Sincerely,
Antonio

I would like to be more active in TSF. So I wanted to share some information that I find interesting regarding the stamps I collect, in particular stamps from Angola. However, I'm trying to learn how to add some stamp images that I find interesting, but I still don't know how to do it. Can anyone help me on this matter?

Angola was a colony of Portugal until it gained independence in 1975. During the colonial period there were several kingdoms in the territory of Angola. One of these kingdoms was the kingdom of Congo, founded in 1390 and which existed until 1914, when the Portuguese authorities determined its dissolution (after the end of the Monarchy in Portugal and the institution of the Republic). The kingdom of Congo was the only territory in Angola that had its own stamp issue (from 1894 to 1914), with 123 stamps being issued. (however, in 1915, after the dissolution of the kingdom of Congo, 9 stamps were issued, with "REPUBLICA" overlay.

It should be noted that stamps from Portuguese Congo appear in catalogs outside of stamps from Angola

For your information, in addition to stamps from PORTUGAL and ANGOLA, my collection also includes the stamps from CONGO

Thank you for this information about the Portuguese Congo. I always thought that it corresponded to the Cabinda exclave of Angola, on the north shore of the Congo river on the Atlantic coast. Would love to see some stamps from that region! That's one of the countries which I am still missing.

For your information, all Portuguese Congo stamps are identical to stamps issued in Angola between 1893-94 and 1914 (King Carlos I/ Ceres)

Anyway, soon I will try to send an image of the stamps I have in my collection from the Portuguese Congo

I also intend to send some additional information about the origin of the kingdom of Congo, which from a historical point of view seems interesting to me. This is an aspect that pleases me when I look at the stamps!

Welcome to TSF Antonio, pull up a chair, there is plenty of room :-)
I am keen to see some of your material as I too have a small collection of Angola as it relates to the Ceres issues and am always interested to see new material. Anything related to the railways of Angola i.e. Luanda, Amboim, Benguela or even Moçâmedes would be a bonus...
Have fun and happy collecting!
