In November 1992, the 2nd group of 4 stamps was issued, with different face values :72, 80, 120, 210 Nkz Note - Nkz is the notation for the Angolan currency used on that date [After the proclamation of independence Angola adopted (in 1977) the KWANZA as its national currency: KzHowever, due to the strong devaluation of the kwanza, in 1990 there was an adjustment in the value of the currency and the Nkz (New Kwanza) was used; In 1995 there was a new review and the curency began to be called KZr - readjusted Kwanza (1Kzr=1000Nkz); In 1999 the Kwanza Kz was adopted again (1Kz=1,000,000Kzr)] It is curious to look at the face value of Angolan stamps over the years and see the changes that have taken place For example, at the end of 1999 many stamps were issued with a face value of around 3,500,000 Kzr and at the beginning of 2000 new stamps started to be issued with values of 2 and 3 Kz! Absolutely amazing!

O PENSADOR (THE THINKER) - Symbol of Angola's national culture
The sculpture called O PENSADOR is a sculpture of Tchokwe (QUIOCO) origin, a Bantu ethnic group concentrated in northeastern Angola, today constituting one of the symbols of ANGOLA culture. The sculpture represents the figure of an old man and reflects the relationship that Angolan culture has with the elderly: the elderly represent wisdom, the experience of long years and the knowledge of the secrets of life. In the culture of the people of Angola, the elderly occupy a privileged status. "O PENSADOR" (The Thinker) has the following origin: In the northeast of Angola, in the Lunda region, in the tribes that lived there, the sorcerer used a divination basket, the "ngombo", where he placed small figures, carved in wood, which served to determine the luck of those who consulted him. It was one of these figures that gave rise to the creation of "O Pensador". Like any emblematic figure of a people — such as, for example, "Zé Povinho" in Portugal, "John Bull" in England or "Uncle Sam" in the United States —, “O PENSADOR” has its origins in a "tradition invented" or "conventional"
