Hi Folks, Well out of my philatelic comfort zone on this one. I've been trying to identify a few japanese revenues and this last one's got me beat. I think the symbol indicates "Permit" or more specifically "Waiver" and they look like sakura in the corners, but that's all I got! Any pointers or tips gratefully received,

The big red character literally means 'dismissal / discharge'. For example, 「免税」means tax exemption. The 'watermark' at the bottom centre reads '逓信省', Ministry of Communications and Transportation. It was formed in 1885 and dissolved in 1949.

Linda, rod222Hi, Many thanks for your input and help. I'll add the info to the item. (I'm trying to get my son interested in some aspect of philately. He's an addict for Japanese anime so I thought Japanese revenues might get him away from screens for a while. We'll see how it goes.)

If he is into Japanese anime, maybe a maxicard will get him interested in philately. I have created many on the theme of Japanese anime that you may want to take a look ( Gundam1, Gundam2, Silver Spoon, Fullmetal Alchemist, EVA1, EVA2, Cardcaptor Sakura, Chibi Maruko-chan, Whisper of the Heart, Doraemon, etc.) Also, I sometimes organise giveway about anime materials, like this one for Detective Conan.
