Cameroon is a typical African country with a long colonial background - It was a German colony up until the end of WWI when it was then divided between Britain and France - The french part was granted independence in 1960 and fully merged with the british part in 1961 to become a united country (Federal Republic of Cameroon) once again etc etc The below is a 1954 "local" cover from French Cameroun

This is one of my favourite Cameroon covers - I love the "elephant" motif on the envelope

A cover from the WWII era, postmarked and addressed within Douala (the main seaport of Cameroon), with the two stamps YT#245 and 246, showing a 10Fr. surcharge to help raise funds to buy a Spitfire Airplane for the French Liberation Army.
