LB1 any free info on small queens is a welcome thing.More information to cloud my old brain. If no one else chimes in I'd be interested. If any of the younger crew needs it I'll bow out.I believe it's my turn though,I have not forgotten that.I think you expressed interest in a SS I posted some time ago. When I get to posting that page it will instead be posted to the Busman.

Can you post a high res of the Indian Red Queen Frog? One thing about this rare stamp is the perf has to be 12.5, no lower.

Bc I'm tech challenged or I'd comply. Please bear with us old timers we used to use actual letters to each other. With out us none of those nice covers eh?? Sometimes I feel like I don't belong in this age. People speak a totally different language when it comes to tech stuff.I often just pretend I know what they are talking about when really I have absolutely no clue.Sorry....

After some thought in relation to my tech abilities or lack thereof,I can equate it to this: Next time your at the local home improvement outlet look at 4 inch sewer fittings. To look at them it seems simple just stick them together now I'm not talking fittings to pipe,I'm talking fitting to fitting.Trust me you will never be able to put one inside the other.I tried for almost a year and I still have some guns on me.It requires a knowledge that I'll not explain.I can do that just as some of you can do computer stuff. We all have some ability that others will lack.

Let me try to take care of the scanning for you frog. That 3c Perf 12 1/2 is one very hard stamp to find. It eluded me for many years. I found this one hiding in a collection of Small Queens in England. I bought the collection for about £500, kept a few stamps and resold the rest. So frog, I think you have the right idea in trying to find one. That's how I got one. In looking at your copy, I can see that that cancel is a Halifax Grid, which is correct for that stamp. SO there's a definite possibility that's the 37d. Wow - What a find ! I read somewhere that there were at most about 1000 of these, possibly less. And they were used in Halifax. And it is the most expensive of the Small Queens. Here's my copy. And mine has a very small thin but it's still quite valuable, even with the fault.

frog, that's amazing. Most collector's are fortunate to have one copy. But three, that's definitely quite an achievement.

Thanks for this informative thread. I've just started acquiring Admirals and Queens. I bought some Queens at the local dealers, got home and found out I had neglected to write down what I bought, so am lost and have to re-identify them. Will not make that mistake again!

If you post scans of the stamps here, I'm sure we can identify them in detail for you.

Someone just asked me about the Vampire Bite variety so I though I would post a few scans here of some varying degrees of the variety. This first one is a great example of how oxidization can be cleaned off of a stamp. Here is the before picture and below is the after. Fine centering with nice cds from TORONTO JUNCTION NO 7 92 Very Fine centering but grid cancel covers a bit of the variety Rounded corner and only one Bite mark

frog,
the reason being that all genuine 37d stamps found were sold in Halifax or Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The postmark here doesn't appear to come from Nova Scotia at all.

jimjung,It will be retained even though. It may be a re-perfed extra large stamp but the possibility exists it was mailed in a different location than purchased.More stuff my heirs will have to sort out.

Here is my copy of 37d. Double struck postmark "MA 3 70 N.S." but can't make out the town name. This is a certified copy. I bought it from an APS circuit book years ago for fifteen cents.
