In July 1954, the first large exhibition of Ukrainian artists from the Unites States and Canada was organized in Toronto.
The exhibit attracted the attention of the general public and highlighted the creative forces of the Ukrainian diaspora.
A single stamp printed in blue and featuring a winged horse was produced for the event.

An interesting AIR MAIL etiquette, likely produced by Canniff Printing Service of Calgary, Alberta.
On Cover dated 30 June 1947.

Canada Post also issued minisheets of the individual stamps, like this one of Cito Gaston. I've seen similar minisheets of the Mollitor and Carter stamps, but have yet to see a minisheet of the fourth (Blue Jays logo) stamp. Has anyone seen that?

Thanks for posting those World Series Cinderellas, Cindycan2!
I'm wondering, since the labels are not valid for postal use, why they have serial numbers? Possibly distributed by the Canada Post Corporation/Societe canadienne des postes at a hefty price....or more likely PROBABLY! Great marketing tool. I have no doubt either inadvertently, or deliberatively, they were used, at some point by someone, to prepay the postage of a letter or postcard.
Without intending to insult anyone--a near impossible task these PC days--would it be likely that, say, someone from Newfoundland might mistake these for postage and send a snail-mail letter? Of course now I must make a mental image (or screenshot) of these labels and put them on my "keep an eagle eye out" for them to add to my small but growing Cindys on cover collection!

The World Series stamps were sold as souvenirs, so I suspect that the serial numbers were added to increase the exclusivity - they were marketed as "Limited Edition" items. The stamps themselves are quite large (63 x 89 mm) so they would really stick out if someone tried to use them as postage.

Nice one Mr. Frog. Did you notice the butterfly watermarks on the back? I've never seen anything else like that. Samuel Jones adopted the 'Camberwell Beauty' Butterfly logo/emblem in 1912, mainly to demonstrate that it was possible to produce paper in more than one colour. The 'Camberwell Beauty' was a name given to a species of Butterfly rare to UK shores and first spotted in the area close to the Samuel Jones Peckham/Camberwell Paper Mills. Samuel Jones have advertised on a number of Cinderella items for which they supplied the paper. The 1934 UK Air Post exhibition labels springs to mind. They used the Butterfly to advertise their wares, as a letterhead, on posters and at events they attended. Londonbus1

This item was on my watch list for a long time. When the price dropped I pulled the trigger. Congratulations on getting these, Frog! They look great. They remind me very much of the Cinderellas from France showing the tourist sites from all over the country. The watermark mentioned by cindycan2 and Londonbus1 sounds intriguing. Wouldn't mind seeing an image of that if someone can post one....

Chris, I thought EXACTLY the same thing EXACTLY while you are posting! Stamp ESP maybe? I was searching this (and other places) for the reverse, two-color paper mentioned. Sounds intriguing!
Well it's off to the local stamp bourse opening shortly. Yesterday I picked up over 200 worldwide covers at about 28c each (three for a dollar less dealer discount for quantity!). Also a few nice B.O.B. (back of the book) US items--kind of Cinderella-ish.
I will post some pictures shortly.

While never a fan of gold foil stamps these looked interesting as an addition to my collection,A nice surprise is they seem to not really be that lousy foil at all but real paper. The only problem I have is they are mounted on covers.I may attempt to soak them at some point.

Here's a Scout label for a Jamboree for Polish Canadian youth. Can't find any other info. My guess, looking at the design is that this is from the 1960s or 70s, but that is really only a guess.

As early as 1858, Polish immigrants established settlements in Wilno and Barry’s Bay, about 200 km west of Ottawa, which became known as Ontario’s Polish Kaszub Heartland. In the 1950s, the region became a popular destination for Polish Canadian scouting troops, who established camps in Kaszuby, on Wadsworth Lake. Scouting activities culminated with the Jamboree of Canadian Polish Youth which took place in Kaszuby from July 16-31, 1966. The Jamboree welcomed girl guides and boy scouts from throughout Canada. To commemorate the event, a souvenir sheet and two stamps were issued. The stamps also commemorate the millennial anniversary of Christianity in Poland observed in 1966. The stamps were published by the Hamilton, Ont. branch of the Friends of Canadian Polish Youth Inc., and were designed by K. J. Ambroziewicz.

The 8th International Horticultural Exhibition was held in Montreal in 1980, May 17th-September 1st. The sheet above was gifted to me by one of our good members in Canada.... renden. Thanks very much for that. There are three more which somehow got stuck together en-route to me and as soon as I have seperated them I will post them up here. Nice sheets, very fitting for a Horticultural event. Londonbus1

Hi Pete: Thanks for sharing the image of the BABNC stamps. Very nice set. The Bileski labels are the Winnipeg-Pembina private post stamps that he used during postal strikes, from 1975-1984. I'm surprised you couldn't find them. So here they are. I finally found my set! In a stock book I thought I just had full booklets in! Phew!
