whilst I've not seen the images vikingeck speaks of, and I probably lack the expertise to tell the difference anyway, I can't agree with tobben63's comment that the reply from UMBERTO2 "is reasonable". Colnet's response lacks any courteous interaction with vikingeck, and the rather obvious reply would surely have been to thank the correspondent and ask for an explanation or - as tobben63 suggests - ask for additional images to help. Whether UMBERTO2 is aware of vikingeck or not, shouldn't automatically mean a dismissive reply is necessary. If the alleged "incorrect images are out there pretending to be genuine", it would benefit everyone to be aware of this situation. Colnect is a different platform - have had good buying experiences with tobben63 and have gone back to find that stamps (classics) I wanted more of were sold by XXXXXX people - this part I do not like as you want at least 15+ stamps from one dealer to make the shipping worth while- I will go back and prefer to choose my "seller" - easier on the process LOL !! Lots of tweeting to do with the site to eliminate forgeries, reprints etcc René

I apologize to vikingeck for the curt response he received from Umberto I will investigate. Edit - the issue here is that while the image was reported as a forgery, no alternative image was supplied. In general the editors have been instructed to only replace images if an alternative is supplied. (And the editor did say "please send the right picture" in his reply to the original comment) So vikingeck if you would be willing to upload an image of the item that is legitimate then we would be able to replace it (or send me images and I will replace them) Colnect works on Wiki principle so all images we have are those supplied by contributors. If the contributor had a forgery and thought it was legitimate, then unless a user of the catalogue familiar enough to spot forgeries recognizes it and is willing to contribute a replacement image, the forged image will likely remain. Very few of the editors at Colnect are specialists in anything, most are generalists so the result is that unless images are pointed out as forgeries they will lay hidden and unrecognized until flagged and supplied with a replacement legitimate image.

Whenever I log in, I get a circled "?" instead of images. For this reason, I never use Colnect. Again this is very odd, all I can say is that it may be loading delays - are you on a wi-fi linked device or a smartphone?? Those do slow things down, especially if you're not on modern 5G networks. Most modern high speed connections ought to load images virtually immediately.

I have been increasingly using Colnect for not only cataloging my collection but also now for selling. I have a lot of duplicate stamps and the process for selling individual stamps on Colnect is very easy. I have already done 3 transactions and received positive feedback on 2 of them so far. The only thing that keeps me from using it more is time.
I have also been increasingly using the stamp identifier app on my phone and it seems to be getting better or I am just getting better at using it. I still have my hard copy of the Scott Catalog nearby but increasingly I don't have to use it.

Sadly I just had a similar interaction on there with a user called "effi" - I submitted some missing scans for early Austrian stamps with varnish bars, only for them to be rejected "because they don't have the varnish bars". I know they most definitely do, and are only visible if held at an angle to the light, so will never show up on a scan. None of the other scans on Colnect for the varnish bars show up either, so they just don't know what they're looking at I think.
I will reach out to see if I can change their mind, but hold out little hope.

If you cannot see the varnish bars in a normal image, but they could if taken off angle, then the off angle image could be used like a watermark image.

I, actually, don't worry at all not being able to use Colnect. I don't need to cataloge my stamps. As for the other features, there're far too many fishes on the sea... By the way...I'm on 5G...

djcmh , is there a way to renew listings that have closed directly from the My Listings page on Colnect? I know we get an email when a listing or listings close but I feel like I should be able to go to a list of my closed listings and simply renew my listings from there. I have learned to maximize the duration and renewal times for all of my listings but once that is finished and they close, they all tend to close at one time and it would be a lot easier if I could simply renew them from my page.

I think that when they are closed, they are closed but this I'm sure djcmh can answer. But before they close, you can renew them. Go to your seller's settings page. In the right column the last line says 'Restore listing renewals - Sets the number of renewals to 10 for all your open listings' And all your listing are renewed! You may also set your Default listing properties to: 30 on Listing duration in days Automatic renewal Number of times 10 Duration in days after renewal 30

@darkomex I am not really familiar with the sales side of Colnect so not sure how listings work. Beat suggestion I can provide is to ask in the Support forum of Colnect where someone more experienced should be able to help.

tobben63 's last post and mine discussing difficulties with the Colnect buying machine.......were not answered - There must be other members on TSF who sell on this site and able to answer René I think I know what you mean renden. I to struggle to find a seller who has most of the stamps I need. What I do is that I connect my wish list in Colnect to to the stamps for sale. (this is possible) - Then I find a selle that seems to have most stamps I need to a reasonable price. - Then I go to that sellers specific sale list and connect with my wish list again and pick the stamps I want. - It should hav been a filter possibility on the first step, to filter the seller with most hit to your wish list. I will help you René if you make a wish list on Colnect if you don't already have one. I don't know if the Colnect folks want to use more time on the sales service, it's free with noe fee to Colnect and that I think is fantastic.

Thanks so much but I do not have the patience or time to do a Colnect wish list as my wishes change often and I find it s easier to go on a Country - Marketplace - see by year what is available and my Inventory is open so easily see if I need stamp X or Y etc - My only problem and I did mention this is to go through my want stamps and end up with multiple sellers, from multiple Countries and each one has selling/mailing conditions that are not uniform - and to be frank with you, most of the stamps I need are not penny stamps and most sellers do not have what I need. I may loose valuable time doing wish lists but if the stamps are not in the Marketplace - another frustration - Easier to go to Hipstamps/Delcampe etc and find what I want - I loved buying from you for certain Countries and you know I only look for Classics - impossible for you to carry all the stamps and not asking that. Thanks for wanting to help !!!! René

tobben63, I have all of my default listing properties as you describe but apparently I did not understand something. I read this as 10 renewals, 30 days per renewal which to me translates as 300 days. Am I incorrect? I did what you had mentioned and did the restore listing renewals previously and will do this again but pay more attention to the end date so I am clear on when I have to do this again.

When I started listing I thought that it was smart to list the stamp one week and set a renewal to 10. But that mean a lot of work every 10th week. So I started to list them for 30 days then renewal 10 times = 300 days as you say darkormex. But those that I already have listed for 7 days, don't change, I have to renew my listings before every 10th week. I do edit this '7days listings' when I see them, but I have a lot. So I think this must be your problem darkormex, you still have some '7days listings' out there.

tobben63 , you are correct. I do and I realized it last night. I have 139 of them to be exact so given that I don't have 12,861 stamps listed like some over-achievers I know, I will go through and edit them over the next couple of days.

A major improvement for those who use the Colnect marketplace, the developers have now added a button that will allow you to directly add an item to your cart from the specific listing in the marketplace without leaving the listings page New Colnect Marketplace Add To Cart Function

I have been working on Netherlands the last days. Now I'm at the Princess Wilhelmina series. To my knowledge (Michel) there where two printings. The first 1891-94 with nature ink, and the second with synthetic ink 1894-98. Colnect only list the first series with exception of 5 c - Dutch cent where thy have both, 35aa and 35b. (but 35ab dull blue is missing) Here is a list of the missing stamps
So I ask djcmh if there is something I can contribute with (on Colnect) to correct this? I don't have other catalogs for Netherlands, but Im sure all the big four + NVP list those 1894-98 stamps.

We have an online submission forum at nif.colnect.com/new/stamps and a guide on how to fill out the form correctly at colnect.com/en/collectors/wiki/title=Stamp_Catalog_Contribution_Guidelines for all the details of formatting and soforth of the data fields. Michel catalogue numbers along are fine, I can cross-reference with NVPH and other catalogues

Nederland 1894 Michel 41b Have processed these and they are now listed in Colnect If anyone finds there are items missing in Colnect that they can provide listings for, please feel to use our online submission tool to help Colnect fill the gaps. The catalogue is built on contributions from users of the catalogue, so unless someone contributes a missing item, it will remain missing from the catalogue until someone eventually adds it. It only takes a few minutes, and it helps to add more missing pieces to the puzzle.

Colnect seems to be sorting stamps inconsistently between Scott and Michel. In this example, I am viewing YAR (Yemen Arab Republic) and selected the 1815 stamps link so images are tiled. I have the sort set to Sn code. For the stamp at end of the first row (Kennedy with rocket), this i Scott No. 216. What is missing is the rest of the series (216A to 216G). The same applies to the 1st stamp second row. This is an image of Scott 217 with he images for 217A to 217H missing, The problem is that Colnect does not know 217A follows 217 in Scott. Now if I switch to Michel sort the stamps appear in proper order. Michel numbers them 432A, 432B (for imperf, not in Scott), 433A, 433B (for imperf, not in Scott), etc, Interestingly, Colnect does a better job sorting Michel with letter suffix these. This would appear there is some sorting algorithm that is used on Michel that is not used with Scott in the software. View sorted by Scott - missing images View Sorted by Michel - images present-

angore the reason they are not sorting is because the stamps have not had Sn codes added, only michel, Yvert and Gibbons. Please use the improve our catalogue feature to have editors add the missing Scott numbers Unfortunately there are still many thousands of listings missing numbers from one or more major catalogue. We do not have a lot of editors with access to Scott Gibbons or yvert so those have a lot more missing numbers than michel.

I see you already made updates on some of my submissions.
There some issues surcharged (value) for the Luna IX but Scott (2017) makes no mention of surcharges - just overprints.

I have just posted over in the Colnect forum a first "sneak peak" of the new minor variant system that will be adopted for the stamps catalogue starting in a few weeks. Please take a look at how the whole variant system is being reworked Sneak Peak of Colnect's new Minor Variant System

Some great news - after months of development the new minor and overprint variant system is now live on Colnect. Most users will not notice an immediate difference, as we have left the old special variant system in place as the editors work to shift the variants to the new variant system, but once this task is completed over the next few months, users will hopefully find the Colnect catalolgue much more streamlined and easier to use than currently. As a small example, here is how the first issue of the Bahamas now appears in the catalogue with the new minor variant system With the new system, items that were special variants before are now listed within the main listing of the most common "base" variant. How the variants differ are clearly marked in the summary table for the minor variants, and you can easily mark if you have, want, or want to sell a minor variant right from the window. So a major new transformation in how the catalogue listings are being presented is underway that hopefully all users of the catalogue will find useful.
