Xavier hrdoktorxYou really have some nice stamps of those Islands, of which the History is not 100% set in my history "mind" but I do understand that Mayotte voted to be a "french protectorate" at present....btw I have 2 orders coming from Ebay on some...out of jealousy (not the sin) René |

Xavier hrdoktorx You really have some nice stamps of those Islands, of which the History is not 100% set in my history "mind" but I do understand that Mayotte voted to be a "french protectorate" at present....btw I have 2 orders coming from Ebay on some...out of jealousy (not the sin) René Yes, as explained at the beginning of the thread, there was an independence referendum in 1974, which led to the three islands of Grande Comore, Moheli and Anjouan to form a new country, while the island of Mayotte chose to remain with France. Mayotte, from 1975 to 2011, had its own stamps (we'll get to those later), and in 2012 became the 101st departement of France, so is now using usual French stamps. |

Moroni is the capital city of the volcanic Comoros archipelago off Africa's east coastFound in one of my late dad's multiple boxes - and I know a friend in FRANCE probably has these !!
