No info on the following except they are to raise money for Spastics, probably GB rather than just Scotland This one is particularly interesting, it depicts cartoon characters created by the cartoonist Jon (John Jones) during World War II for British soldiers. They are called The Two Types. Daniel

St Dunstan's (Blind Veterans) GB. Blind Veterans UK was founded in London in 1915 by publisher and newspaper owner Sir Arthur Pearson. Sir Arthur, who was blind himself, set up the charity to help the substantial numbers of veterans losing their sight during the First World War. Originally called the Blinded Soldiers and Sailors Care Committee, we soon became known as St Dunstan’s, which was the name of our first headquarters in Regent’s Park, central London.

The Tate Gallery 'Save the Stubbs' Campaign 1977 Two paintings, 'Haymakers' and 'Reapers' by George Stubbs came up for sale in 1977. Fearing that they would be sold overseas, a campaign was launched by the Tate Gallery in London to purchase the paintings and keep them in the UK. The campaign was a success after £200,000 was raised. These stamps were part of that campaign.

Get Cartor! No, not the Michael Caine film, but a brief story of how Britain's Walsall Security Printers acquired the France based Cartor Security Printing. Cartor was founded in 1974 in France and developed new printing processes. By 2004 it was acquired by Walsall Security Printers who recognised the international reputation of Cartor and duly changed their name to Cartor in 2021. This miniature souvenir sheet was produced by Cartor for PHILANIPPON 2011 held in Yokashima from July 28 -August 2 that year. Showing various printing techniques and the cartoon character Hello Kitty. t

Found this wee gem in a recent ebay purchase. Took a while to find out it was a WWII British SOE propaganda stamp. They air dropped these and a few other designs into Norway in 41. Technically it's a forgery, but thought it more suitable to cinderella status.

Technically it's a forgery, but thought it more suitable to cinderella status. That's a very good find. Well spotted and researched. It isn't actually a forgery since it isn't based on an existing postage stamp. It is one of a set of four from sheets consisting of a large version and 4 perforated stamps. You can read more about these here, scroll down. Daniel

Following a recent visit to the Royal Philatelic Society London, I've added this to my wants list. It was engraved in 1932 but I can't identify it despite googling the sentences on the 3 sides of the triangle.
Does anyone please have a copy of this stamp and/or know what this stamp is advertising?

Found the details of the company responsible for the stamp. The W and E on the stamp doesn't stand for West and East as I asumed but World and Explorers.

Two interesting GB items. First is a set of 4 Fundraising stamps by Harrison & Sons for the Lord Mayor of London'sNational Thanksgiving Fund. Rather pricey for 1950. !! These were the first ever non-postage stamps to be sold over the counters of Post Offices in the UK. Issued ungummed, relatively scarce. Below is a die-cut Self-Adhesive label celebrating the 80th Anniversary of Harmers Stamp Auctioneers. [1998] Strolling down memory lane here, I came across Micheals posting on page 1 of this thread, and the lower label looked familiar. This label isn't British, but comes from an Appliance company in Mississauga Ont, just outside of Toronto. Identical die used on this label as used on the lower label of Michael's post. And only a year apart. I'm sure it's a common die, but I wonder if the Canadian label was printed in Britain?

The Big Ben Silent Minute Observance In 1940 Major Wellesley Tudor Pole came up with the idea of the Silent Minute to unite the people in meditation or prayer for one minute each evening at 9 O'clock. The idea caught on and it received the support of the king and the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. Eventually the BBC would play the bells of Big Ben on the radio as a signal for the Silent Minute to begin. I hadn't heard of this before, nor was I aware of the stamps but snapped them up when I saw them on eBay recently.

Another Raphael Tuck stamp. This time for National Service with a portrait of Britannia in front of a Union Flag roundel. Believed to be World War I and not a reference to any later type of conscription. This would be in keeping with the inscription, bottom right, noting By Royal Appointment in three reigns, that is Queen Victoria, Edward VII and George V. The company was founded in 1866.

Three documents sent to Abbott & Co (Newark) Ltd, Boilermakers. Firstly, an order from Davey, Paxman & Co. (Colchester) Ltd, Engineers and Boilermakers for boiler parts and asking that their name plates be attached. This document is dated 7th November 1936. Attached to the lower left hand corner is a British Engineers Association advertising stamp. Secondly, a quotation from Firth-Vickers Stainless Steels Ltd of Sheffield dated 24th November 1938. Top right a Woman's Fair, Olympia advertising stamp, 2nd- 26th November. Finally, a quotation from William Bayliss Limited, Birmingham dated 14th September 1943 for copper tubes which appear to be their specialisation. This was, of course, during wartime. Top right, an advertising label for their products with the slogan "Don't Lose Horse Power Through Tubes".

The Evening News: British Prisoners of War
This World War I postcard and stamp. unused and somewhat grubby, were issued by The Evening News during World War I to help Prisoners of War. This London newspaper, which existed for 100 years (1881-1980), was associated with several stamp issues, see this post and this post both from Londonbus1 .

Last November, daniel posted a couple of nice cards showing blocks of 4 of the design you see below but in different colours. I thought I had posted the perforated type before but have not been able to find it. So here it is again together with an Imperf tete-beche pair which I had not seen previously but was a lucky purchase a few days ago. Any items I win now are being sent to friends or Family in the UK or USA for collection on a future visit......or when the mails start working again ! The stamps are by Gerald King of fantasy fame (Wonderland, Alternative Lundy, Elizatoria etc) which he produced for the 10th Anniversary of the Revenue Society of Great Britain in 2000. Sheet of 24, with tete-beche items in column 3 (4 TB Pairs possible) Having never seen an Imperf sheet, I have no idea of scarcity. Londonbus1

Somewhere back on one of these wonderful pages of British Cinderellas (thanks everyone !), there lies this little gem. Advertising the 'London Art Stamp Society'. By the way, information about the above Society is almost non-existent ! But I did find this not so long ago. No text at all. Could this be an error ? Underprint reads: 'Designed, Printed and Sold by David Allens, Harrow Mdx. Then a number O196 Sorry about the foreign body ! It's not on the stamp.

Australia has a long history, with the Vacuum Oil PERFINS (VOC) 9 differing pin puncture formats I believe (see monograph author : David Coath)
