Hank Williams was born September 17, 1923, in Mount Olive, Alabama. Considered one of the most popular American country music singer/songwriters with songs like "Cold, Cold Heart," "Your Cheatin' Heart," "Hey, Good Lookin'" and "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive." He died of a heart attack at the age of 29 in 1953 in the backseat of his Cadillac. This 29c, perf. 10 multicolored stamp was issued June 9, 1993 as part of the American Music series (Scott 2723).

In 1949, the German Democratic Republic's stamp agency started to sell canceled sets of new issues. These are CTOs of the two stamp set issued on March 26, 1952 to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the death of Ludwig van Beethoven: the 12pf blue gray & violet blue, perf 13.5 is Scott 96 and the 24pf gray & red brown is Scott 97.

2 items are shown below from Israel Post.
One is a Se-Tenant sheet of 12 stamps commemorating the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Designed by A.Vanooijen and Printed in Lithography, Perf 14. Issue Date: December 18th, 1986. The Stamps depict Bronislaw Huberman, a Polish Born musician who helped many Jewish Musicians and their families leave Nazi Germany before setting up the Palestine Symphony Orchestra, a forerunner to the IPO; and Italian-born Cellist and Conductor Arturo Toscanini who helped Huberman in his efforts to save Jewish musicians before WWII.
The other 2 pictures feature the Cover and Tete-Beche Booklet pane issued in 1991 to celebrate the Mozart Centennial.

They most certainly changed the world. They were at the forefront of the revolution, men wearing long hair, psychedelic drugs, the Carnaby Street look, the anti-war movement, free love, etc, etc, etc.
Prior to the Beatles, it was an Ozzie & Harriet world here in America.

Ozzie & Harriet never made it to our television, but I believe you blind, that we have not missed much. The anti-war movement was not too successful in bringing peace to the world.Free Love,if it is not just a synonymy for promiscuity,is a contradiction in itself. There is no stronger bond than love.Long Hair and other modes come and go.Psychedelic drugs never entered mainstream societies anywhere, but triggered the notorious "war on drugs". But back to a man,who really was a genius and also had a not too short hair-style: Rhineland-Palatine,french occupation, definitives: 2 & 60 Pf. (Reichsmark currency) issued October 1947 2 & 60 Pf. (First DM-series) issued June 21st,1948 (2 Pf.) and August 1948 (60 Pf) 2 (Pf.) (second DM-series) issued November 1948

To end the showing of the few Beethoven-stamps I own, here one from West-Berlin: Issued on March 26th,1952,it commemorates the 125th anniversary of Beethoven´s death. However, unlike one might think, the stamp does not show the death-mask,but a mask made from his face in 1812.

Not being a Beethoven-expert,I cannot do much more but to check the catalogue. I found the following: Saar Mi.no.273 (60 C. definitive, issued April 28th,1951)
Rheinland-Pfalz Mi.Nr.2 (definitive 2 PF. dark-grey,issued Oct.1947) Rheinland-Pfalz Mi.Nr.32 (definitive 2 no PF orange,issued Nov.1948)
The FRG 70 Pfg. definitive "Famous Germans",was issued in two different colours: the brighter one Mi.no.358a on Dec.1st,1961 and a darker one Mi.358b in Nov.1962. Your scan is to small for me,to be sure what stamp yours is. The colour of same stamp for Berlin,Mi.no.210 was not changed.
The € 1.44 Beethovenhaus was issued with water-activated gum,Mi.no.2306,issued Jan.16th,2003 (upper) and self-adhesive,Mi.no.2348,issued June 12th,2003 (lower).

Oh WOW, thank you so much, this is very informative! May I know what catalogue you were referring to? Is it online? I should have uploaded a photo with the stamps alone. Here it is: For the FRG 70 Pfg. definitive "Famous Germans", how can I tell what shade of green the stamps is when purchasing a stamp online? I think the one I have is the darker one.

In 2019, Canada Post issued a set of 6 stamps with 4 facial values commemorating Leonard Cohen at 3 different stages of his career, in the 60's, 80's, and 00's. This is the pane of 6 stamps, signed by the two stamp designers on the first day of issue (2019-09-21) in Montreal: This is the booklet of 9 stamps of domestic rate: These are the 4 first day covers: This is the uncut press sheet. It's designed in the same format as a vinyl record: I have had the honour of participating the first day issue of these stamps (below: event invitation) in Montreal, where I got special pictorial cancellations inspired by Cohen's album cover design on a series of 4 linovers I plan on creating. The first one has been completed, the remaining ones will be cancelled on what would be Cohen's 90th, 95th, and 100th anniversary. I don't know if it's legal to share the image of the first linover of the series cancelled in 2019 in Montreal, on what would be Cohen's 85th anniversary, because my realistic drawing is based on a copyrighted photograph. It wasn't sold for commercial purpose; it was created as a souvenir. So I set this image to be autodeleted after one month. If you should like to see my creation after that time, please message me. (The 'Future' pictorial cancellation was misplaced by error -- Well, 'there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in'.)

Hallelujah Linda, you are one heck of an artist. What a wonderful capture of Leonard on your cachet. I've enjoyed his music since 1967 when "Songs of Leonard Cohen" was first released. Are you familiar with Jennifer Warnes's tribute album Famous Blue Raincoat? It's a sonic blockbuster on LP.
Thank you for sharing your ideas and wonderful art with the Forum.

Thank you Rob for your kind words! No, I am not familiar with Jennifer Warnes's recording, but ‹ Famous Blue Raincoat › is my favourite Cohen song, so I will definitely look for her cover. I have been in love with this song ever since I heard Tori Amos' cover in my high school English class for the first time. Here are the other pictorial cancellations that were available on the first day of issue: The first cancellation, matched with the Cohen portrait taken in the 60's, is inspired by the back cover of Cohen's debut album. The second cancellation, matched with the Cohen portrait taken in the 80's, probably alludes to the first song in the album Various Positions (1984), ‹ Dance Me to the End of Love ›. At the post office, many people asked about the connexion between this cancellation design and the song ‹ Hallelujah › (which is perhaps Cohen's most famous song); they specifically aimed for getting the cachet of ‹ Hallelujah ›. The third cancellation, matched with the Cohen portrait taken in the 00's, is inspired by the cover design of his last studio album. The fourth cancellation, matched with the 3 permanent (domestic) stamps, uses the cover of The Future (1992) for reason unknown to me. My guess is that it may be due to that the matching first-day cover quotes the lyric of the song ‹ Anthem ›: 'There is a crack, a crack in everything / That's how the light gets in.'

One of the benefits of stamp collecting is that it allows me to discover wonderful artists and locations I have not known before. This year, Canada Post issued a commemorative stamp in honour of the Canadian folk singer-songwriter, Stan Rogers (1949 - 1983). The stamp of domestic rate comes in a booklet of 10 self-adhesive stamps. An official first-day cover was issued at the same time. (Picture taken from Canada Post's website) You may watch Canada Post's tribute video on Youtube.

In 2014, Canada Post issued a set of 5 stamps honouring Canada's country artists: Tommy Hunter, k.d. lang, Renée Martel, Hank Snow and Shania Twain. 5 booklets (containing 10 self-adhesive stamps) were issued for each individual artist.

In 2017, Canada Post issued a set of 5 stamps on Canadian opera. Below is the souvenir sheet: From left to right -- (1) Calgary Opera's 2003 production Filumena.(2) Montreal-born bass-baritone Gerald Finley. (3) Soprano Adrianne Pieczonka. (4) Stage director Irving Guttman, known as the father of opera in Canada. (5) This stamp celebrates the 50th anniversary of the opera Louis Riel (1967) commissioned and premiered in Toronto in 1967 to mark Canada's centennial.
