tallanent How do you treat rail postmarks, Allan ? Interested? I assume St Leonards on sea Station Office is Rail? How about scan/image ownership? I have a swag of images I downloaded for my own information, from an old auction. Author/owner unknown.

Rail Postmarks / TPO are in the main database as they are generally operational hand stamps St Leonards on sea Station Office was probably mainly for mail posted at that location, but likely handled telegraph operations as well Ownership of scans images will be credited to the person IF REQUESTED .... generally most do not ask and are happy to just add items Many of the updates / scans I get are from large dealers who are happy just to get things recorded Here is a mark I added recently which falls under the heading of rail ... What time I have had today to work on this has been spent adding the items from this thread (above) and some more of the numeral postmarks to increase the coverage of that area ... I hope I have covered the main points of the new entries on this thread, but as always, just shout if you want some more details Tonight's item is therefore one of the numerals added ... being 293 [Moderator edit - image link is broken and irretrievable] In general, these marks were struck in black and those in other colours add to the value Used at Faringdon Office details ... Post Town by 1747. Spelling - Farringdon Money Order Office 1 October 1792 Numeral 293 allocated 1844 Savings Bank 30 October 1861 Telegraph Office 1870.
