As an aside: Not enjoying Photobucket anymore, possibly because I am at 83% full? I have my library set at SORT : NEWEST I load a scan, and it will go anywhere, I have to then look for it amongst 360 other images. Ugh. ... Have you tried selecting a different order setting and then returning the selection to "Newest First"? I'm only at 8% with over 1100 images and haven't experienced the problem you describe. I have had the upload appear to hang up but after refreshing the screen and returning to the library view the scanned image is usually there -- I think that problem is caused by AdBlock and Ghostery being in conflict with all of the Photobucket ads and trackers.

Hi Steve, yes, tried using different orders.
I think you have solved the reason. I am now doing 1 scan at a time, and copying the link from a side box.

Tonight's offering from me is ... Grimsby 323 duplex [Moderator edit - image link is broken and unretrievable]There are already two other duplex marks for this location in the database, but this was added as it has the time at the top rather than a code letter. In addition, note the small numeral 8 at the base of the killer section Possible / probable that numbers 1 to 7 are still waiting to be recorded .... the fun of postmarks ... find one and realise that you have another seven missing ... Office details ... Post Town by 1770 Money Order Office 1 October 1792 Numeral 323 allocated 1844 Savings Bank 16 October 1861 Telegraph Office 1870. Code used GY Happy hunting ... Allan

A quick update on the database .... I have revised the layout slightly on the main page, which I hope will make it easier for the user to select the best search option to get the best results ... There have also been a few updates to the page code, which will allow for some expanded information which I hope to add later in the year .... One of the next sections that will be revised is the area on slogan postmarks. This will give details of the various types, periods of use and other information and the intention is to include quick search buttons so that all the known examples can be located with a single click of a button. This will not only provide much general information on each of the slogans that have been used in the UK, but also allow an alternative search to show all the known variations. This idea has expanded from the information presented recently on this thread with regards to slogans .... Watch this space .... more to come soon ... My thanks (for the extra work), to those who contacted me and from where this idea developed ... Allan

Say Allen, I notice you have a search function for US postmarks. I could start a thread and start posting some if you like.

Thanks, Allan. Couldn't resist 4 margins with red cross on a reasonably clean cover at a decent price.
And, she was canceled only about a month after her release date.

Ramsgate Kent (Very Rare) Scarce. Slogan banned. With an incorrect position of the slogan, would have Her Majesty, "Cocking a Snook" Scan : James Mackay.

London Stamp Exhibition 1950 Increase in LKU to 12th May 1950 Note: 12 in Maltese Cross Note: These Pmks can cause some collectors thinking that a Maltese Cross on such a late stamp, (off cover) is a forgery.

Ramsgate Kent (Very Rare) Slogan banned. With an incorrect position of the slogan, would have Her Majesty, "Cocking a Snook" Scan : James Mackay. Just to explain this for the benefit of collectors .... There were 350 dies issued for this slogan - so very widespread use. The problem is that the die was only in use for a short period of time -- from the 1st to the 8th January 1960 This slogan was ordered to be withdrawn by the GPO as the thumb on the hand pointed to the Queen's nose when the stamp was in a certain position ..... On cover price between £10 and £15 I would classify this as scarce .... mainly due to the limited period of use .... but, (and there is very often a but ... ) The die that was used at Halifax continued in use .... From the 9th to the 11th January they continued to use the slogan, but had filed away the hand on the die giving a large gap between the CDS and the remainder of the slogan This three day use of the altered die is the version that I would rate as very rare (VR) A little more information for those collecting this period ... Here is either Bletchley or Bletchley Bucks. If the later, it predates the one in the database by about 34 years.
