Marvelous stuff, Ryan, thank you. Long had I mused about the particular style / personality of Bulgarian stamps, as Czechoslovakia, they have a certain "look" "feel" about them that has lasted for decades. I would think it does not appeal to everyone. Your link on Mr. Kanchev puts meaning to a lot of that. Using his fanatical industry to his work, is a fine excuse on why we all spend so much time with stamps.

Bulgaria. Souvenir sheets. Any member aware of any source of ID for the oddball Sheets not listed in Scott? Would Michel have them?
Example Ice Hockey 1984 1 Lev, multicoloured with two players and umpire. Lions head, and olympic rings.

Scott doesn't seem to list the stamps or the souvenir sheet. Here's the Michel from 2009-2010: That sheet prices out quite nicely, Rod!
As per usual, the actual image I posted is larger than what is scaled down here. So you should be able to right-click to "view image" or "download image" and get a larger version. [Edit: seems as if this image is at or near full size.]
Rod, I'm happy to look up any others you may need.

Bulgaria Just what are "Lozenge perfs" you say ? I believe that perhaps Mr. William Steiner has it incorrect in his album pages He quotes " Numeral in Lozenge" on all his pages. "Lozenge" should relate to the perforations as I see it. Lozenge perfed stamps appear only 1884-1895 Here are the little rascals, not very often encountered in Philately......... (Not Mine) OK, so how do you tell the real monkeys from the tampered with "cut your own" ? from the wide margin imperfs? well apparently the shape is still "perforated", hence at the apex of each mountain of the perforation it should still have been attached to its sibling adjacent and separation causes a typical "feathering" or paper tear. A close inspection of the perfs should prevent all but the most experienced forger to duplicate.

Rod The last two are Sc#J4-J6, at least that's how they were identified by the previous owner and how I listed them here. Not sure what you mean by 'Type B, large semi-circle in tablet' ?? Congrats on the purchase of the modern lot ! Looks like you got a good deal !!

If so, Scott 2014 prices it used at $20.00. Also, if so, then I believe it is Mi 4x (rough paper, 2009 cv €26.00) or Mi 4y (smooth paper, €25.00). About to close down for tonight, but will check back in the morning and see what has transpired. -- Dave -- Dave

Congrats on the purchase of the modern lot ! Looks like you got a good deal !! Hehehehehe You ALWAYS get a good deal from the Londonbus1 ! Thanks Mike, If I may draw your attention to the little Orange segment in the tablet, it is larger on these stamps, AND there are only 24 lines engraved in the background. This makes them J10's and there are no instances listed of Imperf. Thanks for you input, I still may have it wrong, and will stand corrected.

This is my argument for ID as J10 The semi circular part of the tablet is larger (Type B) and the background lines in top LH side number 24 not 30 as in the J4 This makes them 1893 ? Over to you guys.

Over to you guys. Without a specialized catalogue, I cannot add much. Maybe there is something in Michel ? We'll see. Where did those disgrams come from Rod ? When I listed these I thought I had counted the lines to number 30 and not 24 Maybe I got something mixed up ? Quite possible. All my prices for the Bulgaria listings were/are based on an old 2002 catalogue and I can see with what Dave stated, the prices have gone up in a big way since then !! Another good reason to take advantage of my list !!!!!! I'll check to see if have other copies. Londonbus1

I'll have to wait for Dave to wake up tomorrow, Do I see Michel Prices at 400 Euros? If they are, I'll return them to you Michael, I like a good deal, but I won't take unfair advantage.
BTW. Catalogue prices always look good from the catalogue, but when I buy from North America, I rarely pay more than 25% of catalogue, and withdraw from bidding.

We're talking about the imperfs here, correct? If so, those stratospheric values are for the mint. The used are in the €22-26 range -- still worth paying attention to, but not in the "oh my God" zone. -- Dave

Images from Stanley Gibbons Stamp Catalogue Part 2, Europe and Colonies 1962 Michel also uses that as the identifier for the 1887-1892 series, and doesn't count the lines. Scott went off in a different direction with the lines. (Not sure which is better.) By the way, I also looked in the Scott Classic Specialized (2013; didn't spring for the 2014), since they occasionally amplify listings there. But in this case, there's no additional information in the Classic. -- Dave

Thanks Dave ! great work. Phew! So Michel lists them, but not Scott.
Michael I have two, if you want one back, please email me, and I'll post off. I think all information is helpful, I often scan both stamps then toggle, the difference in the engraved lines is immediately obvious.

So Michel lists them, but not Scott. Rod, are the "them" in the quote above the imperfs? If so, then Scott lists them as J4-J6 (5s, 25s & 50s, respectively) If, instead, the "them" are the redrawn stamps (types A & B as your showed from SG), then the redrawn ones (type B) are Scott J10-J11 (5s & 25s) and Michel 7 II (A, C & D, 5s) and Mi 8 II (A, C, & D, 25s). Or so I think, from trying to reconcile Scott with Michel. (Perhaps I have unwittingly stumbled upon a new specialty. ) -- Dave

The stamps are the re drawn 1893 issues Dave. So I label them Michel 7 11 (Imperf) ? 5 Stotinki.
Your scans were a little hazy to determine myself.
Gibbons do not list the imperf either.
