You are so generous Zipper but no thank you, I have your image (snaffled) and it is not a major collecting focus for me, just an interest addition. Please keep it for your growing eclectic collection........

I got these Red Cross charity labels last year; they were issued to raise funds for the French Red Cross so I thought it appropriate, even though issued in London, and obviously aimed towards those speaking and understanding English.

Some of the Dulac labels and a little info can be found in the Great Britain section. thestampforum.boards.net/thread/1473/great-britain-cinderellas The Daily Mail and Evening News were joint-owned at the time hence the 'joint' issue. Other British Red Cross labels from the owners exist, all printed by the Avenue Press of London.

Here are two more. This we've seen, but the ones Rod posted are purple and black. Mine is brown. And here's one I found sorting through a box full of stamps I acquired. Image of the statue Strasbourg on the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

Image of the statue Strasbourg on the Place de la Concorde in Paris. Nice! James. Not seen brown before, so "La Tour Eiffel" exist in Black, Deep Green, Mauve/Purple, and Brown The other looks very much like a Delandres Label (Red Cross series) but it is Postmarked which is unusual I am unable to afford a Delandres catalogue I wonder if Ryan has such a beast.

Here's a more modern set I picked up a couple of years ago. I thought I had shown it here, but it may have been on SCF. Copyright date is 1993

Yes indeed, just when you think you have a good collection, someone comes along, and knocks your socks off. I knew there were paper varieties, but not in that depth.

I picked up this sheet at the CSC auction 10 days ago in London and if you check back at an earlier post in this section [page 1] you will see some different varieties. I have found a few more since.

The Exposition Universelle of 1900 was a world's fair held in Paris, France, from 15 April to 12 November 1900. It was attended by some 50 million visitors The cost of the exposition was far more than the revenues even though each country was responsible for the exhibits and a portion of the costs. At one point a section of the fair was closed due to concessions going on strike because of the high rents. The expo featured controversial "Human Zoos", used to exemplify African primitiveness versus French power, technology, and culture. A sample from the Swiss pavilion. Lovely! 2 other beautiful stamps, from Zipper , of the 1900 expo, sadly hidden away in a forum thread that just wastes member's work "latest online aquisitions" thestampforum.boards.net/post/29278Extended Post on Alfons Mucha , and his work on the 1900 exposition. Album page in detail, of the "Costume palace" at the exposition........................... The vignette may be Sarah Bernhardt, whom was a muse of Alfons Mucha. thestampforum.boards.net/post/17125Mucha's Poster for the 1896 Exposition ( CV $8,000 - $12,000) (Note: We Brits call him the softer "Musha", Americans refer to him as "Muka") video www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/season/18/richmond-va/appraisals/1896-alphonse-mucha-poster--201308A29

falschung,GREAT stuff I'm impressed they all seem to picture different scenes. in my experience cindys are usually issued in different colors with same design, these don't seem to fit that format. You have quite the collection, very impressed. Thanks for sharing these.

cindys are usually issued in different colors with same design, these don't seem to fit that format. The same designs were issued in various colors , usually black, red, blue, purple and green. I am not sure how many were printed but they probably number in the dozens. The Touring Clubs were popular from 1890 to 1930 (probably with the advent of automobiles). Belgium, Italy and perhaps some others had similar clubs

Would be interesting to see how many of those landmarks in Normandy survived the Allied battles there.

1942 Stamp Vignettes to aid struggling artists - each comes in a variety of colors - they are all Paris scenes with period postcards The outdoor stamp exhibition - Monty Wedd (link ) describes this exhibitio n as having a woman as the first regular stamp dealer !! The Concergerie - a prison now used mainly for law courts Hotel de Sens - Originally owned by the archbishops of Sens and now houses the Forney art library. This mansion, which in some photos has a for rent sign, is one of three medieval private residences remaining in Paris. It was built between 1475 and 1507. Les Chevaux de Marly - The horses were commissioned in marble by Louis XV in 1739. They were relocated as shown in the postcard. In 1984 due to defacing issues, they were replaced by marble copies and the originals were consigned to the Louvre Museum
