I love maps and atlases, and seeing them on stamps always grab my attention. I collect Faroe Islands, and I have learned quite a bit of how the different islands make up that country from looking at the maps on its stamps.
By the way, here's a tidbit. Faroe (Faeroe) Islands has no reported active cases of COVID-19. 187 cases have all recovered as of May 16, 2020.

Issued April 12th,2007,the stamp commemorates the 500th anniversary of Martin Waldseemüller´s map of the world. Europe,Africa and much of Asia are quite accurately drawn. However the land or isles on the left three parts would need to be done better in later years. Waldseemüller named them, honouring Amerigo Vespucci,America. The maps have changed a lot since then, but the name America prevailed.

Diet has a lot to do with a healthy body.

Another recent French issue, this block commemorating the 50 th anniversary of the GR 20 trail through Corsica on an oval stamp. The GR "Grande Randonnée" are a set of long-distance hiking trails that criss-cross France. The GR20 in Corsica has a well-earned reputation of being the most challenging and also of having very beautiful scenery. It's on the to-do list for any serious French hiker.

I once had dreams of being a cartographer because as a kid I was always looking at maps and when I was out hiking I would sit atop a high hill and discover the surroundings by using my map and compass. But my grades at school were not good enough and I decided not to persist. I don't, nor have I ever collected Map Stamps although I do find them attractive including those shown by hrdoktorx (above). But what caught my eye again took me back to my schooldays. During breaks and some of the library lessons, I liked to read the cartoon books 'The Adventures of Tin Tin' (Belgian if I am not mistaken). The 'Tabs'/'Labels' on the stamps remind me so much of the type of drawings from those Tin Tin books. It caught my eye as soon as the post appeared. Enough from me, I am starting to ramble. I have ten more days at home so had better calm down a bit !!!!

Issue from Zaïre, marking the sesquicentennial of Belgium in 1980, and featuring an 1851 map of Africa (funnily enough labelled in English), as an artefact meant to represent King Leopold I 's expansive colonial visions:

For those interested in Cartophilately, the American Topical Association (ATA) has a Study Unit ( ATA Study Units) just for you,
At the same time, I belief this interactive website for searching " Maps on Stamps" was created by one of The CartoPhilatelic Society members and may be of benefit or interest to others as well...
Happy collecting!
