Hi Rodney Wait until you start working on Brazil and Mexico. You will need a 50 gallon drum of the stuff Just for the Mexico I am working on I already used 1-1/2 containers of Ronsonol. Fortunately my friend sells it in the storeso I have an available supply. He did not misspell the name of the Falls. He used a c instead of the Portuguese ç. The title is part English and Part Portuguese.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iguazu_FallsJerry B

1956 Steiner Page 18 Early Corrientes stamp on stamp. Guillermo Brown Varieties (Size and design) Check your Watermarks on Scott 514 / 515 Wmk 90 =45c Wmk 288 = $60 Strange Slogan Postmark on Scott # 643 I think it is indicating "Do not send cash through the Post" (The slogan is on the Left hand side of the CDS)

1959-1970 Definitives. Steiner page 22 (with additions) Note: colour distinction. 8 Peso (Lithography) =Vermilion 8 Peso (Typography) = Red wiki Vermilion is a brilliant red or scarlet pigment originally made from the powdered mineral cinnabar, and is also the name of the resulting colour. It was widely used in the art and decoration of Ancient Rome, in the illuminated manuscripts of the Middle Ages, in the paintings of the Renaissance, and in the art and lacquerware of China. Paper size Type 2 would suggest Argentina began using a new format die in the Comb Perforator.

Hi Rodney
You are doing great with Argentina.
How are you measuring the paper size? I always have trouble with that.

Hi Rodney You are doing great with Argentina. How are you measuring the paper size? I always have trouble with that. Jerry B Nice words there, Jerry. Thank you. I can't say it has been too enjoyable, challenging yes, but every stamp needs the wmk fluid (Opinion, but not substantiated) I think the Argentine Stamp works bought a new comb perforator, hence every stamp will have the same measurements. (for each format stamp size, either be it, vertical or horizontal, in that particular format, my pages have been dealing with the elongated stamp format. We have the odd sizes (eg the red General San Martin) which are willy-nilly perforated by line perf, giving odd sizes The new comb perforator will give an exact size every time, ergo, just measure the stamp (not the design) from perf tip to perf tip, either way. Hope that helps. EG: Put a bunch of the brown , 5 Peso, "Oil Fields at Tierra del Fuego" together, the larger format paper, is instantly recognisable. PS: Thanks for the Igazu Falls correction. PPS: Thanks also for the definitive sheetlets knowledge base info, They are absolutely mandatory when sorting Argentina, I just plonk in the wmk fluid, and check off the stamp catalogue number. So easy. You have saved me oodlies of work.

Argentina Unknown Notes: Evidence of large CDS (Circular Date Stamp) 47-50mm ? "Star" Perforation Stamps incribed "Correos Official" They are not Official Stamps (inscriptions from 2001) No Micro printing of year of issue (I thought that a UPU requirement.)

Official Stamps Watermark 90 (Good luck separating those from Watermark 288) Tips : Look out for the smaller 11mm Overprint When watermarking, get a blank page, and divide it up into 6 squares, Mark each one for each watermark You can then plonk each stamp from the fluid into its correct square, for Cataloguing after they dry. 1944

Hi Rodney A suggestion. This thread is getting pretty long. May a Part 2? Jerry B Hello Jerry, I may be wrong, but I think the focus of this forum, is to build a database where a student of a particular country, can now, or sometime in the future, access all relevant information on 1 country, simply, and with 1 click, or...............use this thread as the major folder for the Google search facility at the bottom of this page. (This is also why, I suggest it to be important, for all members, when posting an image, ALSO posts some text string, to identify the image.) Example: The student would select "argentina :stamps" then search to his/her content. Simple and fast, that is how my personal database is run. I can find a stamp from 1,000,000 images in under 25 seconds. Imagine the thread as a compendium. I hope this thread carries on to page 1000............. and onwards. What you are suggesting, fragments the information, and increases the target for a search facility. Thanks for your suggestion, Jerry, it is nice for all members to have and join input, with ideas, to enhance our hobby central.

Hi Rodney Based on what you stated, I agree. It just took a little to scroll to the bottom of the thread last page for the new/added material. Actually, I use CTRL+END to get to the bottom of the last page and start reading up from there. I can find a stamp from 1,000,000 images in under 25 seconds. You're kidding. No wonder you need a second terabyte(s) drive Jerry B

Yep, I have used CTRL+TOP and CTRL+HOME for years here, I have Wi-fi internet, and the pages with big scans can be clunky. I cheated a bit, Searching 1,000,000 images first time, takes about 2½ minutes, once done , and the software logs, it then takes 25 seconds, thereafter. 1917 Revenues : Bills of Exchange. If any members have the Argentine Revenue Catalogue (>$340) I'd welcome information. The stamps come in triplicate (Primera-segunda-tercera) A long haired Hermes, with winged Petasos, looking non too pleased, Icons of Industry and Country looking warily at each other. The rod of Caduceus, has been overdrawn with "1917" and only the two snakes heads are left. Ley de sellos = stamp act.
