So nice to look back through this topic. Although I no longer collect the Stamps of Burma, they will always hold an interest for me. I was just reminiscing about how many hours I would spend looking for (and finding) overprint varieties on both Burma and Japanese Occupation issues. I think I am getting soft in my later years !! I did find a stamp from Burma in my Flag collection, one which has not yet been shown. So instead of the Flag topical I will show it here (first). BURMA, 1974. SG#246 Celebrates the opening of the 1st People's Assembly and shows the Burmese Flag changes from 1752 until 1974.

I found a few more stamps of the 1964/65/66 service overprints:
3 p. to the left Scott no. O70,to the right O83 15 P. to the left O72,to the right O87
1 P. to the left O94,to right O90 (did not realize before, that the overprint on this stamp is inverted !)
2 P. to the left O95,to the right O82 3 P. to the left O96,to the right O84
The last one O93:
Unfortunately I have neither O88 nor O98 for comparison. Missing is the service bird set from 1966,apart from a few single values.

salentin - Just wanted to say I really have enjoyed following your seemingly endless flow of nice Burma stuff. It inspired me to get started on making my own pages for Burma Also made pages for forerunners on Indian stamps, which I - or maybe even no one - will ever be able to fill - but that's ok. Now it will be even more fun to go hunting for those forerunners. Any others collecting forerunners for Burma? (Except barbu off course, he got me involved in this in the first place...)

Stamps of the birds-definitives of 1964 and 1968 can be confused easily:
1,2,3 P of the 1968 series are smaller than those of 1964. However 5,10 and 15 P of the 1968 series are larger than those of 1964.

The higher values (20 P to 5 K) of the 1968 set are all smaller than the ones of 1964.

Werner, please permit me to wish you a belated congratulations on the occasion marking your 1,000th post! It is a great milestone to reach. I would like to add that I find it especially fitting that you chose to select some of your all-time favorite stamps, a very important point, but also that you have done it in the Burma thread, to which your contributions have been truly excellent. Although I have very few stamps of Burma in my own collection, I have really enjoyed seeing yours posted here, so I salute you and thank you for that. With Best Regards, Chris (aka Beryllium Guy)

renden and Beryllium Guy, thank you very much for your kind encouraging posts ! I have been to Burma,in fact Rangoon only, only once, roughly thirty years ago.I liked my week there, - at the time this was the maximum duration allowed -, very much much.Black marked money changing in a running taxi to get 33 Kyat instead of the official rate of 6.50 Kyat for a US-Dollar was an experience, one can feel in a opressive dictatorship only. I spent some money on buying stamps from private people, who could offer much more than any other source. Among these I bought the following souvenir sheet,Burma´s only one.I bought a bundle of a hundred sheets. The mayority had some gum faults, but a quater of those hundred were perfectly O.K.
issued June 28th,1971; The sheet is imperforated, with a printed mock-perforation.
