Everyone on TSF loves the Frog. North Korea 1992 2 Miniature sheets CV $30 / $10 Both sheets cover 6 frogs and toads. 40ch Seoul Pond Frog (Rana chosenica.) 40ch Moor frog (Rana arvalis). 40ch Common toad (Bufo bufo). 70ch Common pond frog (Rana nigromaculata). 70ch Japanese tree toad (Hyla japonica). 70ch Korean brown frog (Rana coreana). Boy, I sure had a tough battle with catalogue blindness on this one. I looked through my Scott and didn't see it so I looked through my Michel and I didn't see it there either. I have a catalogue printed in North Korea (gasp!) so I looked in there and managed to spot it, and sure enough there it is in the others as well. This is from 1957 - according to the Scott listing it's much pricier imperforate.  Ryan |

North Korea #2663 - CAPEX '87 Issue I come here for an opinion on this stamp. I have a copy of the 10c Musk Ox with a clear omission of the brown color. Can this be a real omission or could it be from a Proof or is this a fake? The paper is the same thickness on both and the gum is also the same. Thanks FDI  |

The North Korean, Korean Stamp Catalogue (1946-1992) published by Saengbosa Publishing has the following listing for this stamp along with the other two stamps from the set issued for CAPEX '87 but does not state that there is a color error. It is possible it is a "fake" error of color deliberately printed by North Korea or it may possibly be an actual error that heretofore has gone unnoticed.  I also looked for this stamp on the Korea Stamp Society's website with the possibility that an article had been written about it, but I didn't see anything. With your permission, FDI , I would like to email your scan to the Korea Stamp Society to see if any of the members know anything about it. |

Thanks FDI It's not missing the colour brown, we're seeing colour or colours underneath which would have made up the mix resulting in the brown. It looks to me to be a colour changeling with yellow faded out by sunlight. That's my opinion. Daniel |

FDI, I tend to agree with daniel here. I will still ask on the KSS website but on second glance, with the faded red of the CAPEX logo and the Canadian maple leaf I am inclined toward the changeling explanation also.
