After 1/2 cup of coffee, let me guess the first stamp issued by Great Britain that commemorated an overseas leader and also was the first to be designed by an overseas artist. The 1sh6p orange, black & green, perf. 14.5x14 Gandhi Centenary Year stamp released August 13, 1969 (Scott 600).

Well done! So glad that it was you that posted the correct pic as you were so close. I'll try to be more discriminating in my choice in future, I did not realise that the UK had issued a Gandhi centenary stamp as well. It's funny that they should as he was the unstoppable force that finally threw them out of India...or maybe not, a sporting gesture for sure. Good Job, once again Steve...I'll have to try harder!
