OK, michael, I have looked again.... I now think it is the 20-centavo dark blue. The shading looks different below the oval in the centre.

I agree with Beryllium Guy that it is the 20 centavo dark blue. There is a significant difference in the moire background pattern when you compare it to the others.

I think it is the azul 20 centavos, not because of the background, but because it was not part of the 1925 issuance.

I have Perkins Bacon as printing the 20c in olive green and light blue (also a 10c brown), that one looks dark blue. However, they used perforation 14.5 (rather than 12 used by American Bank Note Co) which seems to be a better match for the 20c blue.

Yes, it's the top right 20c blue. They were engraved in December 1929 and were printed in blue and green. The 10c brown shares the same differences.
Perkins Bacon printing on the right.

Re-construction of a block of 4 with the overprint for Consejo Escolar del Guayas. This overprint was only applied on every block of 4,so each stamp has a quarter of the overprint.Intact blocks are much harder to find.Used blocks are sold at more than double the catalogue value.

Pre-1940 has been my focus with Ecuador but I find many of the later stamps attractive. These two incomplete sets from the 80s are intriguing. The first was issued in 1986 for the 450th Anniversary of the Discovery of the Galapagos Islands. The full set consists of 7 stamps plus a souvenir sheet which is a map of the islands center perforated horizontally and vertically creating 4 separate stamps. I would love to have it as well as all the other stamps of the set. There is currently one of the souvenir sheets for sale on eBay for US$6.00. Also issued in 1986 is what seems like a Ecuador's version of Mexico's Exporta stamps. This is the full set of stamps but there is, again, a souvenir sheet which is printed and perforated similarly to the Galapagos sheet above. It is too bad Ecuador didn't expand this set into their own exporta series.

Continuing my foray into classic South America, I purchased a substantial Ecuador collection on pages, mainly used. This is the first page. Sc. no. 2 and no. 11 caught my eye because they will fill at least 2 spaces on the vast empty Steiner pages I have printed for these issues. I have not looked into whether these are forgeries or not which is entirely possible but I noticed the other thread here on TSF which will likely be helpful.

Items of interest Found in an old glassine: described in Ecuador Officials (Scott Cat) as "items" of 1949 of Roosevelt design, some with overprints of various government ministries, later a Miniature sheet with marginal insccription "Presidencia" de la Republica - not listed by Scott

In my age-old Michel 1988 no less than 32 varieties of these stamps are listed,"issued" between June 1st and Sept 1st,1949. There also 16 Blöcke (souvenir sheets) with these stamps listed. No prices are given.
However there is also a footnote, what says: "the official status of these issues is doubtful". Probably that is the reason why Scott does not list them.

After almost 3 years without mail service and the closing of Correos del Ecuador,a new stamp has been issued by the new company,Servicios Postalses del Ecuador. It is a joint issue with Mexico, commemorating heroines of independence from both countries.Leona Vicario of Mexico and Manuela Saenz of Ecuador. The stamp has a face value of 75 cents.According to the information given by the new company, mail can be sent but only to a few countries at the mpment.USA is appararently one of these countries.Nothing has been said about receiving mail from other countries .Postal tariffs will be announced shortly. The usual lack of information and organization but at least it is a start....

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

This strip of 3 stamps are Scott 748B issued in 1966. My 1995 Scott attributes no value as they questioned if they were valid. Tete beche is normal for these. I find the cancel more interesting than the stamps so I guess I will add it to my hoard. Once again this is how our collections get out of control.

Interesting presentation @ hdm1950. I just looked up the term tete beche because I hadn't heard of that term before. The stamp world definitely has some challenging words to break down in their root meaning and pronunciation.
Yesterday, I met a stamp collector at a local railroad modeling meeting. He sold most of his collection except for Ecuador. That's because he had fond memories living there.
