A couple pages from my aircraft on stamps collection, these from Gabon. The first page was done very early in my collecting of aircraft on stamps, probably in the mid-1980s. I used pen and ink to draw the frames and a Selectric typewriter for the descriptions. That page has two erroneous descriptions. The 40 francs identifies the plane as a Boeing 720, it should be a Boeing 707. The 55 francs is described as a Boeing 707 and it should be a Douglas DC-8. The aircraft on these stamps is a secondary design element with flowers being primary. Gabon got double topical appeal with this set! This is not one of my favorite aircraft sets and so far I have not had the energy to redraw the page. The second page is one of two similar sheets. The one I have is Sc. C 103, the second which I do not have is Sc C 105. On this sheet, the bottom right stamp is identified by the printers as a Vickers Vi ni. It should be a Vickers Vi mi. The 125 francs stamp in this sheet portrays a Douglas "Cloudster." That is an unusual choice of aircraft in that the Cloudster was a one-off design built solely to compete in a non-stop flight across the U.S. I don't know how it fared in that competition, but this may well be its only appearance on a stamp. This Germany 1997 S/S may have been posted in this thread, but I couldn't find it. My purpose for posting is to ask if any Aircraft on Stamps collectors recognize the make and model of the airplane depicted on this sheet. It may be named in a catalog, but I don't have a current Scott's or a second edition SG Collect Aircraft on Stamps catalog. It may be a Phoenix D III (Austrian design)? Any help appreciated! Don

United Arab Emirates 3rd November 1991 International Aerospace Exhibition, Dubai Tornado F3 over Dubai Airport Held every two years, the Dubai Air Show is now one of the foremost events for the display of military and civil aerospace. My employer used to sponsor the show, so I ended up working on our stand. We usually had cutaway engines, or models, for show attendees to examine and ask questions about. This is an RTM322 turboshaft engine, used in the Merlin and the British version of the Apache.

Continuing with my Aircraft on Stamps collection, here are my pages from Argentina. For a reason I no longer remember, I have not acquired Argentina, Sc. 566??? I have not kept up with this collection and most of my pages end in the 1980s.

I recently discovered, and acquired, this 2010 aircraft sheet out of Mexico. It is actually a cinderella item, but I didn't see a cinderella thread relating to aircraft and thought it might be appropriately posted here. It is a TB seal item with 50 different scenes of aircraft in flight and on the ground. For an aviation enthusiast like me it is a great acquisition. The problem is, how to store and display it. Intact, it is much too large even for my largest album and it is the only item I have of this size. I am thinking I am going to have to break it up into multiple album pages. A page of seven, for example of the aircraft images that consist of two stamps. That would leave 36 stamps that could be placed on four pages of nine each arranged by the general time period of the aircraft.
If any members have one of these sheets, I would be interested in how they treated it for storage or display. I would also like to know if Mexico issued other aviation sheets similar or smaller.
Thanks.

Will the large single pocket Vario sheet not hold it? I have a large album that can hold sheets. Surely there is a way to store the sheet intact
It would be a shame to break it up!

Hi brightonpete:
Yes, I am reluctant to break it up, but it is so large, 9" wide by 11" high. I think it could be housed in a Vario Grande album of which I have a couple, but the problem is to find a sleeve to put it in. I don't have any of the Vario sheet pages you mention. I'm going to a stamp show in the Dallas area next month, perhaps, I can find something there. Not sure of the dimensions of the U.S. panes of 50. I'm sure there are protective sleeves for them. Maybe they would work.

I've been looking around online and this looks like it might work:
The plastic pocket sheet is 9 1/2" x 12 1/4". That would be big enough and should fit in my Grande album.

I'm a proud retiree from Douglas Aircraft Company & Boeing. Although I was on the military side of the company. This was my baby- built a career on this plane! One of the planes we delivered to the Australians. Also, a couple of Japanese stamps from World War II- Scott catalog doesn't explain what plane is on these two stamps, but... Scott #267 is a Mitsubishi B5N1 Scott #353 is a Kawasaki Ki-G1 Hien
