I recently bought a lot of 400 2 cent Ohio Tax Stamps, that were wrapped in the original receipt. I had never seen an original receipt. The receipt is actually for 500 2 cent stamps, so they must have used the one bundle of 100.
As you can see, it is almost completely falling apart. I am trying to preserve it so it doesn't get any worse.

Last entry for today, I have obtained a rare 30 cent Merrick Ohio Sales Tax Stamp with no serial number. It is not listed in the book, but it is now in my book.

mikeclevenger , I had that 30 cent Merrick saved in my watch list but never went back to see what it was or if I needed it. Probably for the best as I'm sure you would have outbid me, just like you did on that 10 cent Podge Y's token. Congrats on both -- you're building an amazing collection!

Sorry Steve, unless you were willing to pay a lot of money, you wouldn't have gotten the Podge Y's. I have been on a Quest for that token, and the last one I saw come up, many years ago, I let myself get outbid, it wasn't happening again. I think I put in a $500 bid, figuring no one in their right mind would pay that much. LOL. And, that stamp cost me $60. It is few and far between these days that I find a stamp I need, so I have to get them where I can. I don't know why I am still buying them, as I am getting rid of a lot of other things I have collected, it is just a matter of time till the stamps go too.
Have a great day.
Mike

So, as luck may have it, I have acquired another large Ohio Sales Tax collection. Someone listed a Sales Tax card, and I asked if he had more. He had a large collection he has had for 40 years. So of course, I bought it all from him. He is what I got:
I don't have it yet, but it should be here tomorrow. I am looking forward to see what stamps are actually there.

Well, got another pretty good lot of Ohio Sales Tax Stamps. The best part is the large stack of the $15 stamps, there are at least 3 different ones in the stack, but there are three different colors of paper for one of them. There are a few others I have noticed that I didn't have, so they will go in the book of course. In the picture, I already separated the low values, and put them away before I took the picture. The stamps in this lot were all stapled through the middle, where they were attached to some kind of sales record at some time. The funny thing is that there are no 3 cent stamps at all, which is the most common of all Ohio Tax stamps, since tax was 3 cents on the dollar. Steve, it looks like there should be some stamps in this lot you don't have either, I'll let you know. Here is the picture:

I received this from an Ebay auction for a good price. It is a pack of fifty, 1 cent stamps, from the first year of issue, from the Columbian Bank Note Company. The exact Dean number is Co-1c-1A. I have never seen a pack of stamps like this, with a county treasurer slip attached to the front. Even though it is missing the corner, it is still a very unique item.

I got lucky and bought two more Ohio Sales Tax Punch Cards. Both of them are Kresge, but they are two different SPC numbers. Here is the front of the SPC2 Kresge:
Here is the back of the SPC2 Kresge:
Here is the front of the SPC3A Kresge:
And here is the back of the SPC3A Kresge:
I'm not really sure what the writing on the back means, it's kind of hard to understand. LOL.

Either send me a scan, or post a scan of the stamp here. I will tell you which one it is, and if it is rare or not. The picture needs to be clear enough that I can count the perfs on it.
Have a great day!

Well, it's been a while since i have posted any Ohio Tax Stamp stuff. I got lucky last week and acquired 3, sequentially numbered, MPC Ohio Sales Tax Punch cards. These are the original Merchant Punch Cards, which are some of the hardest to find. I only had 2 of this kind before now. Unfortunately, these were not cheap, at all. lol. But, I still bought them because of their rarity.

I also acquired a new collection of Ohio Sales Tax Stamps. This included a nice amount of the $15 stamps, in several varieties. There is also a nice amount of the $3 stamps. Just so you know Steve, tomiseksj , there is one $15 & one $3 that you don't have in this lot. I have added them to your envelope already. Here are the stamps sorted, but I haven't finished identifying them all yet.

Michael,
That merchant isn't listed in Dean's catalog under either the non-conventional, merchant, or state punch card listings so its novelty would add value. Depending on the manner of sale and card's condition, it could be valued anywhere from the $20-$40 range to $100+. Mike has much more punch card experience than I so he can probably provide a better assessment.

I've looked through all of the copies of the American Tax Token Society's Newsletter that I have and didn't find mention of this merchant in it. If Monte Dean (@moxking ) still frequented the forum, he might have been able to provide some insight.

This is what he sent. Thanks for any info. Londonbus1 It is an SPC1b like Steve said, They are selling for about $25-$75 each right now. They should only be worth about $25-$35, but for some reason people have been paying a lot more lately. I think in the condition it is in, it should bring about $40-$50 at auction.
Maybe I should sell my collection? It would pay for a really nice vacation, but I spent too many years trying to find these.

Got lucky this week and bought a rare and hard to find Ohio tax stamp. It is the State Auditor version of the Reserve Litho $1.50 Tax stamps. This is one I thought I would never get.

I have really enjoyed the posts here even if I don't collect these. Well I tried recently with this item from eBay and purchased it only to have the sale refunded as the seller had relisted a previously sold lot in error. I thought it most interesting to see the sales taxes charged on funeral items_
