Linda - stunning flowers - The Grenadines seem to be a massive group of islands, which all look - now - to be lumped under the one name 'The Grenadines of St. Vincent', in the Caribbean of course, and presumably St. Vincent is the largest. The word 'grenadine' is derived from the French word for pomegranate, grenade. I wonder if there's a connection?
But of course there have been acres of stamps that say simply St. Vincent, and my current SG catalogue which ceases with issues in 1970, appears not to mention the Grenadines part of the name. I think the name change occurred some time in the late 1970s - am sure others will correct that if wrong.
