Early on this thread, we had a search for the first worldwide "stamp-on-stamp" issue and settled on a 1935 offering from Portugal. A good contender that did not appear then is this souvenir sheet from Brazil, issued for the Brapex 1938 stamp exhibition, and showcasing the Penny Black and the Brazilian bullseye:  |

Hello kasvik,
I've seen these boxes on and off for a long time. My grandmother had a small brass one without ornamentation that sat on her desk. However; I've never seen examples like the ones in the article, true Objet d’art. The France stamp was also new to me (I do not collect modern stamps so there's a lot of stamps I've never seen before).

A very intersting stamp,here shown on the souvenir sheet,issued Oct.30th,1954.
As symbol for the (aspired) unity of Germany,the stamp shows Cologne Cathedreal (West Germany) on the left and the Battle of the Nations Monument in Leipzig (East Germany). The "stamp on the stamp" does not exist.But is designed after the 6 Pfg. of the "5-year Plan" definitives.
