Would like to see maybe a forum or subforum on World Wide Airmails if possible. A sub forum in World wide would be a good place for a sub form like this.

Would this be possible, I have much to contribute here and would like seeing other air collections?

I would second this!
Although my specialization has been in Japan, I've discovered that I really like the designs (particularly allegories) of the classic days of early airmail stamps. If I were starting over again, this is probably what I would collect.

Just taking a quick look at how the board is currently organized, it seems like a sub-board under "World Wide" would be the right spot. Although, Mac, in the meantime, you could start a new thread yourself under, say, "Topical stamps" in the WW folder, and Admin could move it to a new sub-board.
Great suggestion!

I'd like to participate, too. I've collected ww pre-1930 airmails and zeps for several years, now. The topic of ww airmails is very broad, so maybe a focusing questions at the outset would be in order. How 'bout early semi-official air stamps, or a posting of as many "C1" stamps as we collectively can put together, or airmail fakes and forgeries. So, mac1775, start us off on a couple of hot threads and we'll try to grow them into a forum.

Rod: I also like what you did in pulling together the Danish Christmas seals into a virtual collection. That makes for a really nice long-term reference. Perhaps it would be possible to organize individual country airmail images that way, too.

Although this would take more scanning than I can do in the next couple of days, I believe I am complete in Japan's airmails, including that elusive souvenir sheet (Scott C8). However, I'm not 100% certain that my C1 & C2 are genuine. But I do have everything else (unless I'm having a senior moment and overlooking something).
Having said all of that, my favorite airmails are the first ones from Greece, whose designs look to me as if they could have been created for Saint-Exupéry's Le Petit Prince. I do have a FDC with all four used, one of my favorite covers.

Happy to do it for you, You need about 16 stamps in a block, otherwise they go to thumb nail size, or the scan is too large for dialup.

Rod: It'll be a few days before I can look at it, but I can also experiment with putting them up as web pages. I used to be able to do this pretty quickly, when Microsoft supported FrontPage and when I had an older computer with an older operating system. I've since upgraded, and, unfortunately, so did Microsoft, and their new web creation software, while far more powerful, is no longer something I can bend to my needs. So I've got the new software, got an instruction book, and just need to find a few uninterrupted hours to try to take some baby steps with it.

Often, I use old fashioned software, due to it's intuitiveness, ease of operation, and flexibility. MSWorks is a fine example of this. I can make a database in 3 clicks. ACDSee afficianados all like the early 3.1 version. To solicit income, software designers have to continually reinvent the wheel.

It's a totally different model (see tail) however. I like Bi-Planes. Infact I'm watching WWI in color "Blood in the air". If you haven't seen this series I highly recommend it!

So, I found a set of brown Scott airmail albums and had to jump at the chance to purchase these. I currently have my World Airmail collection on Vario pages and am currently transferring the complete collection to Scott pages. I really wanted to share my collection and these threads will give me that chance if you do not mind.
Please have patience as I am currently scanning the collection but wanted to start the threads for now. I decided to breakdown the scans by country so as not to make to long a thread to load.

Mac: Can you tell us more about this album? I don't think Scott makes one now, right, but obviously they did. What years does it cover? Was it hard to find? Had you been looking for a long time? (Feel free to take a several pics of the albums!) ... "Enquiring minds want to know."

Will do, hopefully have pics up today on the A and B countries. Also will show the albums. I got these for a steal and would have bid 10 tens what got them for. They go up to 1960's and also include air semi-postals, etc. Yes,I was thrilled to find these albums and they are perfect so that was why I elected to transfer my complete collection.

Mac,
I have moved my posts from yesterday to the appropriate threads and have asked Rod if I can do the same for his. They have entered their new thread by date which has pushed your short posts down a bit. I suggest when you eventually add something to that letter, you edit that post and replace it with a 'real' post !!
Good Luck and look forward to seeing the Airmail collection.

Soltzpup asked the question of what will be permitted in the threads . Not sure I found an answer ? Semi Officials ? Locals ? Or only Scott listed ? Issued by Postal Services ? Private airlines ? Pigeons ? Or maybe some of those should be in a Cinderella topical ? Thoughts Mac ?

I would think that Semi-officials and other back of the book should be posted in Airmails. I would also maybe like to see private posts in another thread for Airmails like the ones found in Sabrina's Catalog.

Since Mac is in process posting his airmail collection, I'll only put up a few pics of mine until he has finished. Some of my zeps are already posted in the "world wide zeppelin" thread. Some years ago I bought a Scott album titled The International Air Post Album (© 1930) for airmail stamps issued before May 1, 1930, and those are the pages pictured (except for the USA). There were subsequent editions of the Air Post Album, e.g., 1934, but I have only the 1930. Here follow the album cover page and the first pages of Abyssinia, Alaouites, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, and the USA. [Non-recoverable image link removed]

Stoltzpup, that album is the exact same one but I have pages to 1960. The binders are a brown color and the pages are 2 post. Having scanner issues right now so waitng for my camera battery to charge and will get going on mine. You look to have a great classic airpost collection also. Nice showings.

There is no sense in duplicating our postings, so you go ahead with your collection and, where I can fill in a few along the way, I'll do it. It's interesting that the early pages in your 1960 album are the same as in my 1930 edition. There are a few obvious errors in the 1930 -- inaccurate descriptions and omissions as well as non-airmail inclusions. I wonder if these ever got corrected. The cover on the 1930 is brown-red cotton buckram, a little rosier in color than the brown linen international albums of the same era. The binding is sewn.
