One of the best bargains I ever ran across was when I picked up a rather tattered but still very cool album of WW stamps commemorating the US Bicentennial. Included in the album was a complete set of the stamps Laos destroyed. As I recall the story a small number of stamps were issued and fewer still made their way into the hands of collectors. The Laotian government demanded the return of the stamps that had been released but as you can see not everyone complied. Fewer than 10,000 sets now exist and I have one of them! As for the rest of the Bicentennial album... y'all will see more of it in time. I paid just under $28 for the album and the catalog value well exceeds a thousand dollars US. A great score I'm still patting myself on the back for.

Very nice find If I came across this issue without the information your provided, I would have easily thought of them as a wallpaper issue and set them aside. As they say, knowledge is power

Quite interesting: I did not know about the burning of that set. I have the set of stamps and the set of perforated souvenir sheets.I wonder how rare the s.s. are.The s.s. also exist imperforated with a printed immitaded perforation.

Congratulations, you have the combined set of 5 that were available at Laotian post offices and the additional 5 stamps that were distributed through "other channels".
2016 Scott lists the price for the entire set of 10 at $60. The imperforate set is valued at $225.
I would take that claim of less than 10K sets sold with several grains of salt. Maybe local post office sales, but worldwide(?) -- that's where the real sales were. This topical was not produced for local consumption.
