7 kopecks Soviet PSE used during the inflationary period after the dissolution of the USSR. Used from Vyborg, Leningrad area to St Petersburg. A 593 kopecks "Russian Post" octagonal "meter" handstamp was used to make up the 6 rubles rate (valid between May and August).

Keeping in the low countries, here is a cancel for this day in 1911 from the city of Aalst, Belgium. The cancel refers to it by the French version of its name, Alost. Wikipedia informs us that it is known for its pre-Lent celebrations, including the "throwing of the onions." Seems like a fine tradition.

Cover from the village of Zakolpy, Vladimir to Murom (also in Vladimir). Franked at 8 kopecks with 8k/2k overprint on postage-due stamp. The rate had been raised to 10k two days before the mailing of this letter, hence postage-due was assessed with the oval handstamp of origin. It is interesting that even small places (Zakolpy had 1475 inhabitants in 1926) had a postage-due handstamp. The postage-due raised was ONLY the deficiency, i.e 2k. Officially, postage-due was deficiency+ registration. It is possible that this was some type of special sending to a governmental agency, hence the reduced deficiency charge. Payment of the postage-due charge was indicated in writing at top left.
In 1927 a number of stamps, including the postage-due stamps, which had ceased being used for their intended purpose, were oveprinted to 8k to serve the intercity letter rate.

10 kopecks Russian Imperial Arms (Scott #23), cancelled in St Petersburg. In addition to the regular cds, on the upper part of the stamp there is a partial straight-line "St Petersburg" (in Latin characters) handstamp in blue - either a postal canceller of a type used mostly during the pre-stamp period or a private (company) one.

tomiseksj - You might be right, I was considering the same possibility. Will July be 'JY' then - or 'JL' ?

blaamand , here are examples of squared circle postmarks for the "J" months that I "borrowed" from zipper 's posts in the Great Britain postmark thread.
