July 25th, 1932
Soviet picture postcard (Museum of Revolution paintings, H&G 163I, card #88) from Vasilsursk, near Vorotynetz, Nizhnii Okrug to Dobele, Latvia (29/2). The card is franked to a total of 40k with the addition of 30k perf and 5k imperf definitives. Vasilsursk had a cds to cancel the stamps and a violet straight-line handstamp to indicate registration (note also the registration # at upper left), but apparently had no registration labels. An unusual label was added in the administrative center of the area, Vorotynetz (perf on 3 sides with Latin script and a pre-printed registration #).
View of Pioneers's camp and sanatorium in Crimea.

80 years ago today at noon, this FDC went through the New Zealand mail system, from Wellington to Carterton. Carterton is a small town about 80 kilometres NE of Wellington.

7 kopecks Soviet PSE used during the inflationary period in independent Ukraine from Kharkov to Kaunas, Lithuania (through Vilnius, backstamps). The PSE had been originally uprated to 50k in early 1992 with a "Ukraine Post" circular handstamp (to cover an intercity letter rate). Here the revalued PSE was used as a blank - inflation had raised the rate to ex-Soviet countries to 50 karbovanets (the Ukrainian equivalent of rubles). Cash payment of the appropriate charge was indicated by the manuscript "Paid fifty" notation, over which a Kharkov cds was applied.

Here's one from Kingston, England. Unknown year. I toyed with the idea of waiting until 4pm to post this, so that I could do so at the same time as the original postmark. But I really want to be on the bus home by then.

August 1st, a nice day to go to the beach, don't you think? At about noon at Hendaye-Plage, the southernmost beach on the Atlantic in France, and here is a stamp to show we were there in 1958!

Cover from Tiflis 4th town office (bilingual Georgian / Russian label and cancellation in violet) to Halle, Germany (13/8 backstamp). Franked correctly at 35k with large and small heads. The non-standard registration label is perfed, has a thin black line border and a pre-printed registration #. The cover also bears a generic “R” label with space for writing town name and registration number.

On this day in 1930, the Pacific Northwest Air Tour was in full swing in Tillamook, Oregon! Or at least I suppose it was - I have not been able to find much information on this event.
