August 6th, 1929 Cover from Shemikarakorskaya, Don to Rostov-on-Don (7/8 backstamp). Franked correctly at 20k with block of 4 of "Large Heads". The non-standard registration label is square, perfed on 3 sides, with registration number and a "PTK" designation. The date stamp of origin was applied on the label to indicate the dispatching office due to the lack of the relevant information on the label itself.

August APRIL 9This 2 cent carmine stamped envelope from the 1907-1916 series (Scott U411) was postmarked in Ann Arbor, Michigan on this a date in 1911 by a Time-Cummins machine.
To (fool myself into believing that I found the) answer for the month/day or day/month question, I turned to the Machine Cancel Finder and found this Time-Cummins example which also happened to be from Ann Arbor.

To answer the month/day or day/month question, I turned to the Machine Cancel Finder and found this Time-Cummins example which also happened to be from Ann Arbor. Thanks for your post, Steve. It is a very nice cover! I don't mean to be a nit-picker here, but are you sure about the date? It appears to me, based on comparison with the other postmark illustration, like the cover may be dated 09-Apr-1911 at 8:10pm. The month is indicated as APR on your example and MAY on the isolated postmark example below it (27-May-1907 at 5:12pm - confusing because the month of MAY is the 5th month, and the time is 5pm). I think that the numbers show the date followed by the time in hours and minutes. Any additional opinions?

14th August (1950) Great Britain, Scott #262, King George VI 2-1/2 pence ultramarine definitive stamp, postmarked on this date in 1950, in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. I could post information about the place, as there is some, but in fact, the reason I acquired this piece in the first place from a dealer's huge random mix box, was for the date. My wife Amy and I were married on 14th August 1993, so today is our 25th wedding anniversary, and I wanted to make a post today to mark that occasion. That also happens to be the reason why we are in Copenhagen today, too, as we are leaving later today on a Baltic Sea cruise for the next 10 days. So, during that time, I will only have sporadic internet access, as it is very expensive to purchase wi-fi packages on-board ship, so we will rely on opportunities when in port. Anyway, I just wanted to share my celebratory news with all my friends on TSF. Thanks to you all for being my philatelic family, that follows me wherever I am!

Congratulations on your anniversary !! I have kind of an anniversary as well: my oldest daughter was born on this day in 1999 and I became father. Staying at home with the kids eventually led me to pick up stamp collecting again, so in that respect 14th August is a double-life-changing event for me

August 18This 50 filler, bright blue, perf. 15 stamp featuring the Esztergom Basilica (Scott 592; 1943) was postmarked in Hungary on this date in 1943. At the time of its cancellation, the Kingdom of Hungary was a member of the Axis powers (perhaps unwillingly). The video below the stamp shows both exterior and interior views of the church.

August 21On August 21, 2014, the USPS reissued its 2013 contemporary holiday stamp at the APS Stamp Show held in Hartford, Connecticut. The forever stamp was issued as a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) double-sided booklet of 20 (Scott 4816b) and sold for $0.49 on the day of issue.. This oddity is a product of that show: the 4 & 8 cent blocks of the Jan Paderewski stamp (Scott 1159 & 1160: Oct 8, 1960) have been cancelled with the Hartford, CT Aug 21, 2014 FDOI postmark. The 4 & 8 cent blocks of the Baron Gustaf Mannerheim stamp (Scott 1165 & 1166; Oct 26, 1960) received nicely centered CDS.
