An exceptional beautiful specimen of this difficult stamp,if the cancellation is genuine ! I am a more casual collector of the early issues of the german states. So I am not really famillar with the single-circle cancels. How can one see from what year the cancellation dates from ?
The postcard is very nice, but does not show a scene from 1880. Carl Benz showed the first motor car in 1885.The first electrical street-car service, built by Siemens & Halske, started in 1881 in Lichterfelde. The type of the motor car and the street car on this card are most likely from the late 1920´s or early 1930´s.

Railway enthusiasts cover commemorating 3 countries railways - Luxembourg, France & Germany, on this days 42 years ago. They used the 1976 Europa 6 franc Soup Tureen stamp issued on May 3rd, 1976. I would have gone back 10 years & used Scott #442-443: the 5th Int'l Philatelic Exhibition of Luxembourg Railroad Men issue for this cover. Although I suppose the soup tureen could have been used in a dining car!

Cover from Moscow to Voroshilov, Far Eastern Krai, 11/9/1935. Registered with unusual registration handstamp and franked correctly at 40k with definitives. The town of Nikolsk-Ussuriisk (today Ussuriisk) had been renamed Voroshilov in February 1935 (until 1957). The sender included the old city name in parenthesis in the address.

On this day in 2014, this was sent to me from Santa Barbara.
I love that the sender used two thematically related stamps: Scott 2023 (Ponce de Leon) from 1982, and Scott 2616 (World Columbian Stamp Expo) from 1992. Very thoughtful of them.
