December 18Czechoslovakia, Sc#895, highest denomination of 6 stamp series celebrating the automobile industry. Issued Dec 1, 1958. Unsure of postmark city...Prague? The vast majority of the stamps I have from this country are CTOs, but that doesn't appear to be the case with this one.

Dec. 19, 1890 Berlin West Station Stamp is upside down so it may be an example of the "Language of Stamps" letters popular in that time period I did an article once - HEREBerlin 1900 Note the building in the background "Panopticum" Castan’s Panopticon was Berlin’s first waxwork museum. Opening in 1869, it welcomed visitors long before Madame Tussaud arrived in the city in 2008.

Denmark, Sc#382 (issued 1963) showing a design that first appeared in 1905, slightly modified in 1933, and occasionally re-issued in new denomination/colors until 1971. Postmarked Copenhagen. Month is a bit hard to make out...I hope I got it right.

More mailings around Christmas I suppose. I have three, from three decades: the 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's. 1936 Jamaica, Sc#103 King George V issued 1929-1932. Not 100% sure I got the date right on this faint cancel, so added a second image processed to enhance the postmark. 1946 USA, Sc#939, postmarked San Francisco, Merchant Marine commemorative issued Feb 26 1946 1951 Italy, Sc#564, postmarked Rome, one from a large series representing trades and agriculture issued Oct 20 1950

Some modern Scandinavian kings Sweden Sc#423, 1951 issue featuring King Gustav VI Adolf, postmarked 1954 probably at Hälleforsnäs or Hällekis. I'm leaning toward it being Hällekis, because my grandmother was from Västra Götaland, and I suspect it was floated off a letter from a relative, but the location of the existing letters argues for a longer name. Denmark Sc#320, 1950-51 issue with King Frederick IX which was issued in various colors and denominations between 1948 and 1955. Postmarked 1959 in Copenhagen. King Frederick IX married Princess Ingrid of Sweden, daughter of King Gustav VI pictured above.

Dec. 29, 1876 US Postal Card, Sc#UX1, UPSS#S1 was the first standard US Postal Card and was first issued on May 12, 1873. A total of 31,094,000 of this card were produced. The next card issued (Sc#UX3/UPSS#S2) had an identical design, but smaller watermark. A different design, but with the same 1 cent postage, began production in 1875. The plates for this card were manufactured by National Bank Note Company. The card was produced by Morgan Envelope Company. Initial production was fraught with problems including paper quality and ink color that almost led to cancellation of the contract. These early production problems resulted in some very rare varieties of this card. As an example of one of the problems, as the company quickly sought to iron out the difficulties, the men were working well into the night (by gaslight) trying to formulate the ink to match the standard. They thought they finally got it right, and immediately put it into production through the night. When morning came and they saw the new cards in daylight, they appeared quite different, with a clearly purplish hue. Since cards with that ink were only produced a few hours, they are of course, quite rare now. The card below was postmarked in Deposit, New York, from Deposit National Bank to another bank in Newburgh, New York. Postmarks then did not include the year, but the card is dated on the reverse by the sender.
