Feb 11, 1966 France, Scott#1129 (issued June/July 1965). I'm stumped on the town in the postmark. It looks like *N?RP, but I can't find any town ending in RP in a list of French communes with populations over 20,000. It might be a town/city ending in "N", followed by RP (for "Recette Principale" - main receiving office?), in which case I would guess Lyon. If anyone knows the answer, let me know.

February 11th, 1870. North-German Sector, YT#15. Postmark does not give enough information to narrow it down too much, but my guess would be Königsberg in Eastern Prussia.

Here are a couple for today, both recent postmarks. The first one from Dresden (Briefzentrum 01) for this date (23 February) in 2015 that has the nice slogan of "Philatelie: Sammeln ist Leidenschaft". (Would that be more or less "Philately: collecting is a passion?". Google doesn't seem to be giving a very good translation in this case. I also like the post horn in the cancel. Seeing one always reminds me of "The Crying of Lot 49", one of my favorite books. Also from 2015 is one from Portland:

1988, just back from a 3-½ year stay in Germany. This stamp was issued on January 16, 1986, and celebrated the 100th anniversary of the automobile. This stamp was used 31 years ago today in the city of Bielefeld, the home of Dr. Oetker. Michel: 1268; Scott: 1453

Here are two more recent postmarks. The first is from Opole, Poland, on this date (24 February) in 2014. It came from a postcrossing postcard. The other is one from Oakland that was sent to me last year.

Here is a stamp cancelled at the Leipzig/Schkeuditz mail centre on this day in 2001. The 56¢ Europa 2000 stamp used the common design that was made up of a tower of 6 stars. Just what are the numerals to the right of the Euro called? I have always looked at it as Euro/cents, but it seems no-one calls it such. Just .56 of a euro. Do Europeans use the "cents" word for that? Just wondering!
