March 17, 1943 Norway, Scott#O40, postmarked Hagavik, Os, Hordaland. stevew Hagavik was my local post office for more than 20 years. The post office opened first time in 1893 (Named HAGAVIKEN). From 1921 the name was HAGAVIK. It was closed in 1996. Her is an overview over cancels used in Hagavik/Hagaviken

I think they were interested in those because their mother (my grandmother) was born, and spent her childhood on the island of Tjörn where her people had lived for hundreds of years. Although it was ceded from Norwegian/Danish control to Sweden in the 1600's, I have read that on the island they remained linguistically more Norwegian than Swedish well into 1800's.

March 18, 1881 Sweden, Scott#22, postmarked Uppsala? This is a Railway cancel (järnväg stempel). There are lots of types (link on Swedish) of this in Sweden. I have a book on Swedish cancels and will try to identify it later today, but most likely it is a cancel used on a railway connected to Uppsala.

A couple of quick ones for today. On the first, I hope that you will indulge me, as it is not really a postmark. But at least it is post office related: Receipt for a postal money order, stamped on 24 March 1913 in Morrisville, Vermont. The other is much more recent, dating to a mere two years ago. A machine cancel from Toronto:

March 25th, 1996: Three Greek blocks on FDCs for the 1996 Athens Olympics. My apologies if those are a tad late (it's still March 25th in Alaska, though), as the image upload wasn't working for me yesterday evening.

Kuna, ID - 26 March 3028. Kuna trivia: - It's one of the fastest growing towns in Idaho.
- The town is pronounced Kyoona.
- The Snake River Birds of Prey Festival is coming up in Kuna in May. Sounds like a good time.

Kuna, ID - 26 March 3028. 3028 -- That's quite a glimpse into the future! In all seriousness, it looks like the red handstamp is dated '2013', while the spray-on cancel is '2018'?

Pescadero, California. 30 March 2018. This one doesn't look like much special, but it appeals to me because of the origin. Pescadero is a lovely little location on the northern California coast, a little south of Half Moon Bay. Even the location of the post office is picturesque: (Image taken from mapio.net.)
