7 kopecks Soviet PSE used after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in Ukraine from Kharkov to Kiev. A circular "Ukraine Post 93k" meter stamp was used to supplement the PSE's indicium for the 1 karbovanets rate. The PSE commemorates the 60th anniversary of the tractor plant in Kharkov.

On 15 April 2014 some dude in Minneapolis sent me an envelope. The stamp recommended that I celebrated. Perhaps I did - I can't remember what was in the letter. Then last year a nice person in Marupe, Latvia, sent me some stamps. Priority, no less. Another cause to celebrate.

Last year on this date (19 April 2019), I received a letter from a friend in Santa Fe. While I would have loved it to have received a Santa Fe postmark, it ended up with one from the mail processing center in Albuquerque.

2018-04-20 FDC CANADA- 65th anniversary of the coronation of QEII btw, this scan reflects the paucity of colors of the original FDC enveloppe by Canada Post - everything is "whitish-pinkish" and most of the stamp is on white backgroung, with recessed light bilingual text - apologies to Canada Post !!

Beautiful piece, vasia . It's rather unusual to see the stamps on top of each other like that. Maybe the sender wanted to be sure to put the Ukraine stamp on top, even though there was still room to the side.

I was thinking exactly the same, quite a cool piece of postal history: Mixed franking on top of each other used for up-rating a "foreign" postal stationary. Nice!!
Does anybody know for how long Russian stamps were valid for postage in Ukraine?

Cover from Erivan, Armenia, Soviet Union to Riga, Latvia. Franked at 40k with definitives: this might be payment for the higher (!) domestic rate (40k compared to the 35k international rate). The registration label is in the English language, perfed on 3 sides, with a black border and a pre-printed number. The original purpose of this label might be different from its use for a registered letter here as suggested by the following facts: a) the “R” notation is written-in by hand and b) the pre-printed number is crossed out and replaced in handwriting by the appropriate registration number.

Does anybody know for how long Russian stamps were valid for postage in Ukraine? I am not aware if there was an official date of withdrawal/invalidation of the Soviet stamps. However, by late 1993 the galloping inflation would have made the old Soviet stamps (with denominations of only up to 5 rubles) impractical for use. The domestic letter rate jumped from 9 krb in June 1993 to 27 krb in mid-September to 100 krb in December.

Thanks vasia - so the Soviet stamps were simply made useless by inflation, didn't expect that - interesting
