2 November 1915, Chicago. A postcard from Oval Convex Portrait Company of 17 N. Crawford Ave. to Mrs Maggie Williams of Fort Collins, Co, telling her that her portrait was about to be delivered. "Yleman" is a word with which I am unfamiliar. From the context I assume it means "inclusive", but I could not find it in any online dictionaries. Anyone know the definition? The Oval Convex Portrait Co. and its successors seem to have been run (perhaps sequentially) by a couple of fellows yclept J.A. Harvey and Bob Clement. Here is J.A. advertising for portrait agents in the Philadelphia Enquirer of 25 March 1923.
He put the same classified ad in March and April 1923 in newspapers as far afield as Buffalo, NY, perhaps in a concerted effort to drum up business. Here's Bob trying something similar a year later. The Tennessean, 13 April 1924.
Alas JA and Bob's efforts do not seem to have been fruitful. There are no ads that I could find for 1925 and 1926, and in 1927 17 N. Crawford was occupied by the Ames Drug Co. The Indianapolis Star, 10 July 1927.

That Joe Schlesinger was probably THE Joe Schlesinger, famous Canadian journalist. He had a very distinctive voice, reporting from around the world. Wikipedia has an interesting page on him.

December 9th, 1983: From the UN NY postal office, FDC of a Human Rights issue designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser: If you are ever in Vienna, do make a detour to visit the HundertwasserHaus, the museum dedicated to him, in which there is a whole room about the stamps he designed, including some truly remarkable pieces. It's really worth it!
