For today, hows about one from Bellflower, California on 11 December 1971. With a sweet "Fight TB and other respiratory diseases" slogan cancel. Bellflower is part of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. Chris Carter, creator on The X-Files, one of my favorite TV shows, is from here. The 11th of December 1971 was a Saturday, and if you were a young lady or gentleman in Bellflower there were numerous diversions which could occupy your time. Perhaps you could look for a swell new apartment. A groovy bachelor pad with lush shag carpeting and large heated pool could be had for only $145 a month! Pretty sweet. Independent Press-Telegram (Long Beach, CA), 11 December 1971.
Yes, 1971 was a fine time.

As fine as 1971 was, 2017 wasn't bad either. Here is one from Rotterdam that was postmarked 12 December of that year, from a postcard sent to me.

Posted somewhere in Germany using the 30 pfennig centenary of the North German Confederation stamps. This stamp was issued on September 5, 1968.
Wow, I didn't realize just how big it would display on here!

No, not a trick question. I was just referencing the cancel on the previous postmark of the day message.

guess that's what he called them. With no network TV here, I haven't seen the show for a few years now. Watched it every year since it first came out.

You are stealing this thread a fine of $2 to be paid to TSF René ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Meanwhile....... except in California (!) it is very close to: 20-12-
fdc 20-12-73 - a historic one from Jerusalem - issued for the 1973 Philatelic Exhibition - Scott 530 and 531 stamps Israel. This exhibition was postponed to Mar 25-Apr 2 1974 because of a conflict "Yom Kippur War" - and since I do not like Wars, I prefer that you admire this beautiful cover (FDC) that I received from Londonbus1 some time ago. Thanks again LB1 !

Posted somewhere in Germany using a 100 pfennig vending machine stamp. This type of stamp first appeared on October 22, 1999. It is number 3 (type 2) in the Michel catalogue. They could be bought in increments of 5 pfennigs from 5 pf to 9,995 pf. Who’d need a 9,995pf stamp? I wonder if anyone ever sat at a machine for a week or so printing out each available denomination. Things that make you go “hmmm”!

Alameda, California (zip code 94501) on 21 December 1967. I imagine that after dropping their letter into the mailbox the writer may have had a couple of hours to kill. If they wanted to see a movie, playing in Alameda that day was Fitzwilly, starring Dick Van Dyke and Barbara Feldon. Oakland Tribune, 21 December 1967,
I should see Fitzwilly. I loved both the Dick Van Dyke Show and Get Smart.

Some lovely cancels yesterday and today! I especially like your 1996 Honolulu, Beryllium Guy . Here is a much less lovely one. A Ft Myers spray cancel for 23 December 2018 with a barely legible "Happy Holidays".
