Luxembourg, Grand Duchess Charlotte 75¢ overprinted on 90¢ definitive, issued December 28, 1929. The 8 of 18 looks a bit off, but considering the way it curves at the top right, I'd say it is 18 vice 16. Scott #192 - Michel #219 - SG #278b

Saargebeit, the 5¢ value from the Landscapes issue of 1922 (Stampworld #84.), Although this one looks more like someone trussed up in a cave, with lanterns being a part of the border design.

February 20, 1920. 100 year sold today. I found this in a stockbook on Tuesday. I thought it was funny that I found it two daays before it turned 100 years old.

I recall when these EUROPA stamps first came out, boy they were hot. I think a collection of the first 10 years including mint, FDCs and postal use would make a challenging endeavour.

It’s been just over 4 years since I returned to my stamp collecting. Shortly after starting back, I renewed my subscription of the Faroes, but that didn’t last long. Here are three maxi-cards showing fire engines that was issued on this day in 2016.

28th February (1925) Latvia, Sc 114, 2-santims orange yellow definitive stamp of the Arms & Stars design (Scott Type A12), postmarked on this date in the city of Riga in 1925. Note: I am reading the month in the date as Roman numeral II (i.e. 2) based on other Latvian cancels that I have from this same period. Later Latvian cancels seem to use Arabic numerals for the month rather than the Roman ones.

29th February (1936) Leap Year DayKenya-Uganda-Tanganyika, Sc 53, 65-cent yellow-brown and black pictorial stamp, depicting Mount Kenya and a portrait of King George V, postmarked on this date in 1936 in Fort Portal, Uganda. According to Wikipedia, the town of Fort Portal had a population of about 54,000 based on a 2014 census, and it is situated at an average elevation of over 1,500 meters (about 5,000 ft). The town is considered the seat of the Kabarole District and Toro Kingdom. Please see map and photo below. Other notes: I am pretty sure that I received this stamp in a large mixed lot purchased from Gavin ( feebletodix ) in late 2018; thanks, Gavin, I really like this stamp. I would also like to dedicate this post to my great stamp friend Xavier ( hrdoktorx ), whose collecting interest in African nations has inspired me to look more closely at my own stamps from Africa, which is the main reason why I noticed this nice postmark in the first place. I was delighted to find an example from a Leap Year Day, too, as it is one of the very few I have seen. I am hoping that others will have some to post.... Thanks for your nice comments, Jon ( blaamand)! I realize now that I should have also given credit to you, Jens ( barbu), and Rene ( renden), my fellow members in the Postmark Club, for inspiring me to examine my used stamps more carefully for previously undiscovered treasures. It has added to my appreciation of our hobby, that's for sure. And oh by the way, I checked this thread for previous 29th February posts back on Leap Year Day in 2016, and I was pleased to see that there were two: one by vasia also from 1936 like mine, and one by alanl from 1968, both with nice, clear, dated cancels. In case you want to check it out: thestampforum.boards.net/post/40341/threadI hope that some other members will be able to post a couple more 29th Feb postmarks for today! If not, I have one other, but I didn't want to overdo it!

It has added to my appreciation of our hobby, that's for sure. I'm glad to hear that! On that note, your KUT stamp cancelled in Uganda is a nice example of an 'intermediate runner' for Uganda, used in the timespan when Uganda did not have separate stamp issues on her own. Just another thing to study, appreciate and collect! I have separate collections for the KUT stamps used in each of the three current nations. It makes the KUT stamps much more interesting, and also helps to maintain a continuous philatelic timeline for the affected countries. (Sorry for taking this thread on a sidetrack...😉)

No worries, Peter ( brightonpete)! Even if you do not have a postmark for today, Peter, I am happy to give you full credit for doing most of the heavy lifting on Postmark Calendar thread for some months now. You are the one who really keeps it going now on a regular basis, and I am late in saying thank you very much for doing that, as this has long been one of my favourite threads on the Forum! So, thank you, Peter! As for today's date, I just managed to get lucky in finding a couple of legible cancels, that's all.... P.S. If you want to have one to post for 2024, you could go and mail yourself something today to get the cancel.

Beryllium Guy , Canada does not have any post office open. I can mail it today, but it won't enter the mail stream until next month! I'll have to wait unto 2028 before I can mail a letter on this date, but I'll probably be dead by then!

Nice postmarks. I don't think I have any, I'm not at my home (stamp cave) now. But I have never heard the term 'leap year day's before. In Norway we call it 'skudd årsdag'. Directly translated it will be shoot year day! 😊 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry but was not at home yesterday (29th) But I did check now and I had one stamp with postmark cancelled the 29th February. It's four year until next time, so I just have to show this one, SON.
