Stan's ( stainlessb) grandmother was a fine lady! I have many a postmark from her. Not this one, though. It is one from Boston, 23 March 2019.

26th March (1926) France, Sc 152, 80-centime vermilion definitive stamp depicting the Sower (la Semeuse lignée), Scott design Type A20, postmarked on this date in 1926, place name not legible. Dedication: I am making this post in honor of René ( renden), who sent me some of his Semeuse duplicates a while back, and Xavier ( hrdoktorx) who was my excellent stamp friend during my time in France, and finally to Stan ( stainlessb) who has embraced his collecting of these classic issues of France with wondrous enthusiasm.... I salute you all! Vive la France (et la philatélie)!

March 27, (2000 more than likely)
Yet another in the pile of Machin's that feebletodix sent me last Fall. This one being the small 2nd Class NVI (non value indicator) with syncopated perfs and 1 centre bar tag. Probably Stoneham #QN1. (But what do I know of these, I need a SG Concise for this set!)

27th March (1986) United States, Sc 2153, 22-cent deep and bright blue commemorative stamp issued to honor the 50th Anniversary of the Social Security Act, postmarked on this date on the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19) in 1986. The Blue Ridge is a US Navy amphibious command ship, which is still in active service today. Note on provenance: This example comes from a letter that was posted to me by a close friend who was serving on the ship at the time. Like others on TSF, notably tomiseksj and mikeclevenger , I also served in the US Marine Corps. My friend was also a Marine, embarked aboard the Blue Ridge. I would like to dedicate this post to my friend Tim, who sent me the letter, and to TSF members Jon ( blaamand ) and Jens ( barbu ), both seafaring men, who both have a special appreciation for maritime postmarks. Well, you know how us Marines love our history. It is good to see that you have something from when you served. If I wanted to see anything I kept frmm when I served, I would have to visit the X-wife's house! LOL.

I know of Briefzentrum's, but not Briefregion, this one being 33. Is that the precursor to the briefzentrum's? If so, then this would have been cancelled in the Herford area.

29th March (1915) Tunisia, Sc 43, 35-centime, olive green & brown pictorial stamp showing the Ruins of Hadrian's Aqueduct, postmarked on this date in Tunis in 1915. According to Wikipedia: "The Zaghouan Aqueduct or Aqueduct of Carthage is an ancient Roman aqueduct, which supplied the city of Carthage, Tunisia with water. From its source in Zaghouan it flows a total of 132km (82 miles), making it amongst the longest aqueducts in the Roman Empire." By comparison, the famous Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct in France is 50km (31 miles) in length, so the Aqueduct of Carthage is long indeed. 2nd April (1969) Great Britain, Sc 587, 1-shilling 6-pence multi-coloured commemorative stamp issued on this date in 1969 to honour the 20th Anniversary of NATO. Postmarked in Reading, Berkshire, England, which is about 25 miles from where I now live in Oxford. Personal note: I wish I had a classic stamp example to post for today, but this was the best I could do. I hope that someone else will be able to post a good oldie, as it's a special day for me today.....

3rd AprilLourenco Marques, Sc 6, 50-reis light blue definitive stamp depicting King Carlos of Portugal, issued in 1895 and postmarked on this date, probably within a few years of issue judging by the general appearance of the CDS. Stamps of Lourenco Marques were replaced by those of Mozambique in 1920. Dedication: I am making this post in honour of René ( renden ) to mark his special day. Happy birthday, my friend! Many thanks for your support of TSF and your friendship and your continual generosity to all of us.

April 3, 1951 American & British Zone issue from September 1, 1948 2 mark violet, perf 11, Type II, watermark sideways facing down. Scott #659a : Michel Junior 2011 #98 Imperforates exist, as well as the watermark facing in any of four directions! This can get to be quite the large collection.
What exactly is the difference to perforations and serrations? I thought serrated meant slits instead of holes.

4th April (1936) Italy, 1-lira brown revenue stamp depicting King Victor Emmanuel III and cancelled on this date in 1936. I am unsure if this is an actual postmark or just a fiscal cancellation. If any member has a similar example from the period to give a clue, that would be welcome. As this stamp is not listed in any catalogue in my possession, if any member can help me to identify it more accurately, that would also be welcome. I know that Stan ( stainlessb) has posted something recently about revenue stamps from Italy, and I recall that tobben63 had posted something in the past about postmarks of Italy, and of course, Jon ( blaamand) and Jens ( barbu) are very knowledgeable about postmarks in general. I also know that Ryan has an extensive collection of catalogues, so perhaps he can help with identification. OK, I have tagged everyone I could think of who might able to help with this one. Hope to hear from someone!
