Back to Sweden for today's postmark. It is cancelled by a rural mail service that originates from Ekshärad located in the Landscape of Värmland. (LBB is an abbreviation for Lantbrevbärare in Swedish that means rural mail service). The stamp was issued in 1970 and in 1976 a switch to non-fluorescent paper was made. The motif is a National Seal from 1439.

Canada 10¢ carmine rose RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police), issued June 1st, 1935. Mailed from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. I spent a few months of TD (temporary duty) there back in 1982 or 1983 from CFB Edmonton. A nice little town that had a number of underground tunnels to evade the cops when prohibition (banning of alcohol) was in force. 4,086,000 were printed of this stamp. Unitrade #223
I should scan this on that new scanner I have. It's bound to be better than this iPhone capture!

Wien, 10.06.1895. On Franz Josef 1890, perf. 10.5, Sc. 53. Here's a few images to get an impression of how Wien looked like 125 years ago, when this stamp was used. Wien should need no further introduction. It was the capital of the Holy Roman Empire for centuries, at a time when Austria was one of the absolute super-powers of the world. The vast number of impressive buildings, palaces, museums, Operas etc goes a long way to remind us that many of the 'super-cities' of today don't have any kind of history like Wien does. I still haven't been there, but it on top of my list of places to visit
