10th July (1915) U.S., Sc 332 or similar, 2-cent carmine definitive stamp (pair) showing a portrait of George Washington, postmarked on this date in 1915 (105 years ago today) in San Francisco, California. The date of the postmark rules out any stamps of this same design (Scott Type A140) after Sc 461, which was issued in June 1915. This is also a very nice readable strike of a slogan cancel for the "World's Panama-Pacific Exposition 1915". This image is cropped from the entire, and as shown, the envelope is torn on the right, all the way to just under the right-hand stamp. View of the Panama-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco in 1915

FDC USA Wyoming State Seal - Scott 897
René, I am delighted to see that you have posted this. This cover went to you in the Uncle Bill's Giveaway in Dec-2018. I know it, because George Dembo was a friend of my father's with whom he traded stamps and covers back in the early 1950s. I am so pleased to see this.... Thanks! Welcome Chris - I knew the FDC came from a friend....now Uncle Bill !!!!! René

The "Remember Pearl Harbor - Work for Victory" cachet is not listed in the Mellone's catalog. I wouldn't expect this to be listed in Mellone as a cachet as it is one of hundreds of patriotic cachet envelopes found used during WWII.

11th JulyAlgeria, Sc 162, 1.50-franc pictorial stamp showing the Oued River at Colomb-Bechar, Scott design Type A11 without "RF" in the frame, and postmarked on this date in Algiers. I originally thought that the year was 1937, but that doesn't appear to be possible, as Scott indicates that this stamp was issued in 1942. As I was lucky enough to win Rene's ( renden) Algeria giveaway just a little while ago, I couldn't resist choosing my contribution for today from Algeria, since I just happened to have one available. Dedication: My post today is made in honor of Terri ( philatelia) to wish her all the best on her birthday, and a speedy recovery from her recent medical problems. Happy birthday, Terri!! You are aces, and we all appreciate you here on TSF! Thanks for all your contributions to the site.

12th July (1915) U.S., Sc 331 or similar, 1-cent green definitive stamp (pair) depicting George Washington, postmarked on this date in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1915, 105 years ago today. The image of the postmark and stamps was cropped from the entire, an image of which is shown below. Note on provenance: From the cover, one can see that it is addressed to Canton #11 PM IOOF, Oakland, Cal. In this case, the IOOF is the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a philanthropic organization. Edit: PM apparently indicates Patriarch Militant, which is the head of the chapter. Thanks to JeffS for researching this and pointing it out (see later post in this thread). I actually received this cover as part of a collection of old documents that the Odd Fellows had decided to dispose of, and it was, in fact, from the local chapter (canton) in the SF Bay Area, although by the time I received this, they were based in San Leandro rather than Oakland. For flag enthusiasts like Londonbus1 , hrdoktorx , and others, the advertising labeling on the envelope from The Cincinnati Regalia Company adds interest to the piece. Period Image of The Cincinnati Regalia Co. in Cincinnati, Ohio

Hi, Malam: First of all, I want to compliment you on the artistic arrangement of your PM Calendar posts. Very nice, indeed! I did want to mention, though, that I think you may have misread the above postmarks. Considering that they are both from Germany, I imagine that "-7.12.67" is actually 7th December 1967, and not 12th July. These days, it is really only the US that uses MM-DD-YY(YY) style of presenting dates. The rest of the world does DD-MM-YY(YY). On older material, such as some 19th Century and early 20th, you will also find GB and British Commonwealth that use that date style, but virtually nowhere else.

Beryllium Guy - a quick trip to Mr Google turned up this re "PM" The Patriarch Militants (PM) and the Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant (LAPM) are the highest branch in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. As of January 1, 2018 membership is open to men and women who attained the Scarlet Degree (Third Degree) and are members in good standing with their Odd Fellow lodges.

14 July 1939 Mauritania YV 72. A semi-postal stamp issued in 1938 ,part of an omnibus series commemoratingt the 40th anniversary of the discovery of radium by Marie and Pierre Curie. Postmarked at Nouakchott, which was a small settlement in colonial days.Mauritania was governed from St Louis in Senegal. After independence in 1960,Nouakchott was chosen as the site for the new capital of Mauritania.Postmarks from pre-independence are much more uncommon.
