27 April 1964 Chile SC C246-7,issued in 1962 to celebrate the World Cup being held in Chile.The postmark is from Punta Arenas.  27 April 1965 Bahamas SG 253,issued in 1965 and with a postmark from Fresh Creek.  27 April 2004 GB SG 2452,part of the 6 stamp Ocean Liners set,issued in 2004.This shows SS City of New York which sailed from Liverpool to New York.The postmark is from Liverpool Exchange post office.  |

East Germany (DDR) souvenir sheet of Ulrich von Hutten (1488-1523), promulgator of the Lutheran Movement, issued April 5, 1988 and CTO'd on the 27th. The words below the stamp translate to "I dared it". After checking Wikipedia, I'm not sure what the quote comes from.

brightonpete "Ich habs gewagt" - "I dared it" is the beginning of a poem by Ulrich von Hutten. He dared it to criticize the catholic church for its secular power. He was ostracized and had to flee to Switzerland. 1 Ich habs gewagt mit Sinnen 2 und trag des noch kein Reu, 3 mag ich nit dran gewinnen 4 noch muß man spüren Treu; 5 damit ich mein 6 nit eim allein, 7 wenn man es wolt erkennen: 8 dem Land zu gut, 9 wiewol man tut 10 ein Pfaffenfeind mich nennen. Very difficult to translate because it is written in an old German style. " Pfaffenfeind" means "enemy of the pastors"
