August 31Postmarked in Ottawa, Ontario on this date in 1962, the first day of issue for Canada's 5 cent stamp (Scott 400) showing the Arms of the Provinces and intended to memorialize the opening of the Trans-Canada Highway on September 5th of that year.

1 September 1892 Austria 5kr Correspondence card sent to Belgium,with an additional 5kr stamp SC 54 issued in 1890.Postmarked at Triest.  1 September 1952 Austria,stamps from the Costume series. SC 525 25g issued in 1949 and SC 522 10g issued in 1948.The postmark is from Purgstall an der Erlauf,Lower Austria.  |

One country, but two wildly different worlds. Runaway inflation was just beginning on one, the other... Germany and Italy against the world.
1923 saw the release of the 10,000 mark Köln (Cologne) Cathedral. The second, Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler on a semi-postal stamp declaring “Two peoples - One fight”, issued as propaganda for the Rome-Berlin Axis. The surtax was for Hitler’s National Culture Fund.

Postcard, sent by two girlfriends of mine on September 2001, from the isle of Skye, Scotland. I was, actually, with them. But, as a philatelist, I wanted to have a postal souvenir of my visit to the beautiful Highlands. Hence, the postcard.

6 September 1891 Austria SC57 issued in 1890 and with a postmark from Mauer.According to Wikipedia,Mauer was a small village in Lower Austria,now part of Vienna.  6 September 1911 Austria SC133,issued in 1910.The postmark is from Liboch,now Libechov in the Czech Republic.  6 September 1928 Dahomey YT70,issued in 1925.The postmark is from Zagnanado.  6 September 2021 A letter I received last year from a Delcampe seller,postmarked at Kiev,Ukraine.  |

A spray cancel from the South Maine distribution center for 6 September 2016, with an old DDR stamp on the back of the envelope postmarked 10 October 1963.
