Left stamp: expedition vessel "Gauß" (named after Carl Friederich Gauß).The vessel was put into service in 1901. It was built for the german antarctic expedition 1901-1903.1904 it was sold to the government of Canada, renamed "Arctic" and used for arctic expeditions till 1926.
right stamp: "Polarstern" (Polar Star),an ice-breaker expedition vessel,put into service in 1982.

Other than it's Swedish, I know nothing about this one. Translating the rather long word has been difficult but it's a floating 'something' !! Anyway, at least a Ship.

Paquebot "Pasteur" Liner Sc # B114 - July 17, 1941 SS Pasteur (1938) was a turbine steam ship built for Compagnie de Navigation Sud-Atlantique. She later sailed as Bremen for Norddeutscher Lloyd. In the course of her career, she sailed for 41 years under four names and six countries' flags (ref: Wikipedia)

A favorite of mine which combines ships and maps. An important treaty which would never have occurred today. "Spain and Portugal affirmed the papal decrees of the Inter Caetera in the treaty signed in the Spanish town of Tordesillas in June 1494 . But they moved the line of demarcation between the Spanish and Portuguese zones of influence several hundred miles farther west. This placed an as-yet-undiscovered Brazil in the Portuguese half of the world, as well as protected Portugal’s African trade route from any European competition. The world was now officially divided."
