rod222 , She was built in my neck of the woods at Newport News Ship Building and Drydock Company. Her fate is unknown as a judge ordered the vessel to vacate Philadelphia in September of this year. While the ship's conservancy is trying to find a new docking location, a marine advisory committee in Pensacola, Florida will gladly take the vessel and make an artificial reef of it. If that brings in tourist dollars from divers, I'm okay with that.

The Pacific Forum Line (PFL) is a regional cargo ship line serving a number of Oceania countries. It was established in 1976 by twelve forum member countries and incorporated in Samoa. Operations began in 1978 and by the time this Independence stamp was issued in 1982, the ship line was in danger of collapse. Through member support and later through various joint ventures, PFL overcame a number of financial difficulties and would become a model of success as a regional carrier. It operates five vessels. Cook Islands Scott #93 issued in 1936 in one of my dad's approval booklets. This is one of the few stamps identified by number in the booklets, in this case presumably to avoid confusion with the 1946 reissue (#118).  |

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

My sorting of stamps this week turned up this MNH set from Ireland that was issued on September 21, 1982. They are Scott 529-532. Left to right the vessels are Currach, Galway Hooker (interesting name  ), Asgard II training ship and Howth 17-footer.  |
