Your presentation, gave me the idea of looking for this stamp in my Swedish collection. You can find it in two versions: vertical perforations (as shown) coming from roller stamps and horizontal perforations (from booklets). We, European collectors, seek both.

Thanks for the heads up cursus. There is one seller on eBay that has two of these stamps and are combined with a few others. The price is right but they charge for expedited shipping which is cost prohibitive. So, I'll continue to look for one.

It will surprise none of the followers of this thread that the Central African Republic also issued a miniature sheet of stamps on the theme of the Titanic in 1998, like several other ones by other countries already shown previously:

hrdoktorx, It appears that the 1998 Mali and Central African Republic Titanic sheets came from the same template.

Yes, they obviously use the same provider of stamp "designs".

From 25 to 30 June 1984, many tall ships sailed from Saint-Malo, France, to Quebec City to honour the 450th anniversary of Jacques Cartier's first voyage to North America. Here is the commemorative stamp issued in 1984 on this occasion:

cursus, I didn't know about Albert Londres until I looked him up. The man traveled around the world as an early investigative reporter. He died in 1932 at age 47 while sailing from China to France. It seems he discovered a scandal regarding drugs and arms between China and the Bolsheviks. Apparently, he was killed by a fire on the ocean liner.
