I go through Atlanta several times a year when driving to see my Dad and the traffic can be awful. We often drive through Tennessee to avoid it unless it is a weekend. It is longer but easier drive. The entire I-85 route north of Atlanta to Charlotte can be a mess.

Finally had some time to continue sorting the Belgian stamps. 300 unique stamps in, and hardly made a dent in the stack...

Not much done again today. My back went berserk on me yesterday, so I am just taking things easy and not doing much until it settles back down again.
Growing old... sheesh eh?

The magick that is the Portugese Ceres issues delivered by Harry Potter & Co. It seems rather fitting to have this “old-school” franked envelope deliver the latest acquisitions,

mikeclevenger - beautiful pages of those German Plebiscite areas. So you're planning having separate pages for used and mint? Interesting. I also collect both used/unused, but just stack them above each other just like you've showed us on your pages. If used with nice postmark I prefer the used example at front, but that's just me. Thanks for sharing anyway, fabulous stuff!

Seems everything taking me away from stamps these days is health related. Age might bring wisdom, but it also beings a plethora of health issues!
Hope it isn't serious, René!

One of my pre-Xmas purchases was delivered yesterday with a nice cancelled block on the package...and no address on the front. This was written in very small letters on the reverse. The Ecuadorian postal service is very frustrating, and they have no concept of express mail, but in this case ,they did a good job.The package was delivered without any additional markings or labels.Am hoping they will do the same for the other delayed packages..........

The previous stamp weekend was really a good break for me as I recovered from my illness, and as I planned, I worked on sorting and organizing my Hong Kong issues, mainly QV and KEVII periods. I also performed surgery on several patients in need. Most of that gave good results, but I damaged one QV stamp by putting a hole in it while trying to remove some adherent colored paper from the back, and I had a little issue with one of the fugitive ink stamps. As I had learned from our dearly departed member Clive ( Anping), most, if not all, of the two-color KEVII and KGV definitive stamps use water-soluble fugitive inks for the vignettes (central portraits). Before joining TSF, I never knew that, and I soaked some HK issues that now have very faded vignettes on them. So, after learning from Clive, I have been much more careful. I no longer soak these stamps, I use Stamp-Lift Fluid instead, which is less prone to affect the fugitive ink. But I learned again that using too much fluid can still remove some of the fugitive if one is not careful. I did see some of that on one stamp that I worked on. After that, I used less fluid, and I also put the stamp face down on an absorbent surface instead of hard, non-absorbent one, and I got better results again after that. Sometimes, we have to relearn our lessons! So, for mostly better, the QV and KEVII patients have been drying and being flattened, and they should now be ready for me to put into the collection. I just need to find the time. The KGV are mostly sorted, but not quite finished, and I still have a couple of more patients to work on there, too. On the Hong Kong theme, I recently bought a few HK stamps to add to my collection, so I hope to put together some stock pages to show everyone in the next couple of weeks. Work has been keeping me busy during the week, and then this weekend just ending here, was spent on an overnight trip to Stratford-upon-Avon. It is a nice town, noted primarily as the birthplace of William Shakespeare, which is a big attraction for my wife. As I humored her desire for Shakespeare-related activities, she humored me in return, as we found our way out to see the one stamp dealer in the area, whose shop is located about 3 miles (5km) out from the center of town. I will post more about that later. Back to work for now! Stay stampy, all!

low key stamp day- family from out of state took priority - and aside from finding stamp collecting "mildly interesting...' no real interest...
but things are now once again quiet and I am assembling A.S.G. for Deutsche Bundespost which may interest some (I stop at Deutsche Post)- there will be some with enough duplicates to look for nuances/shades, but hopefully something interesting enough to have an interest in
stay tuned- may take another evening to assemble in a way to show what's there

I spent time cleaning and organizing this weekend along with reading GSM back issues. The sad / happy part was going through some old Scott pages in box and found 2 mini-sheets I had missed to pull. The collector was putting stamps on back side since Scott does not provide spaces for many mini-sheets. The issues had no real value but was irksome. I also spent time correcting errors in Malaysia section of StampManage. Someone got confused on Federation vs State issues.

Still ploughing through a box of loose stamps that have become a chore, but yesterday I got my hands on a new project. Way back in 1949, 50 and 51 a banker collected the covers from incoming mail. Between removing the 'name and address' from the envelopes and childish mounting on old bank account documents from 1916-1923 they were in dire need of rescue. About half are contaminated with foxing and they all have an odour about them. At some point I will scan the few items I am keeping and the rest will be offered up for sale.
