I received a lot purchased off ebay that consisted of mostly British Commonwealth souvenir sheets from the 70 to 90 era. It was more of the impulse bids that I was surprised when I won. I am resisting on trying to acquire post 1980 stamps but failed on this one.
Since I will be off work for almost 2 weeks (back to work Wednesday) it has been more like the "Twelve Days of Stamping".

The Ebay dealer I had bought the Greenland clichés from said that Canada Post is worse than some 3rd world countries as far as the mail being delivered goes. He said he'd mail out the clichés again, eating the loss. Maybe this time they'll get to me. I'm not holding my breath!

I am resolving (yet another thread topic, I know!) to identify some of the puzzling stamp items I have tucked away.....cross-posting (hopefully that is allowed?) this pair of imperforate French stamps--I think they may be from the island of Réunion but I can't find them in my Scott catalog. There are numbers pencilled on the back ("7" on one stamp and "9" on the other) maybe that can help:

The imperforate "Commerce and Industry" allegory stamps were used from the French colonies in general. The "R" overprint does refer to Réunion. These two stamps were issued in 1885-86. Very nice!

Today I've got mail (a real one) from Londonbus1. Once again a thoroughly prepared package (I think the stamps there were better preserved than Mona Lisa painting when sent between the museums ) I've got this one for participating in the "LB1's TSF Newsletter Giveaway No.10" by writing an article to the newsletter, and been drawn for the runner up prize. I sure glad I've taken part in this, because the prize is really nice (this is only part of what I've got): I've got some nice stamps, and a lot of them and some philatelic material and some Cinderellas... Japan war occupations, Croatian war time postage due, Maltese Edward VII (need to determine the watermark) and more and more: And of course the gem of it all - Sarawak's Charles J. Brooke, the second White Rajah of this currently Malayan state in the north of Borneo island in the late 19th - early 20th centuries: Well folks, I must say, it's totally worth it, to write articles for the TSF newsletter. Once again, thank you Michael for this wonderful prize, and the giveaway. Surely will participate in future ones. Indeed, a good start for this year. Kostia

René Worry no more -- we don't require images to be embedded and ask that you do not (See submission guidelines). All we need are markers in the text indicating where you think the images would be best placed. Nelson, our Editor, will work then his magic. When can we expect your first submission?

Soaked a bunch of stamps this morning. Yesterday I finished sorting all the US stamps including all the BoB I had found in a ziploc bag and I citrused some 2017 & 2018 stamps. Time to start putting them all in the albums.

I mounted my first stamps for Napal and added a St Christopher 1p (scott no 2). Also found a few copies of this souvenir sheet from Redonda that Scott does not list supposedly because it is an uninhabited island. I do not know if SG lists these issues. The stamp on stamp is topic makes it interested.

The stamp on stamp is topic makes it interested. Gibbons only list them as an appendix type. Which means they are dubious at best or just downright bogus. However, opinions differ and some say that Antigua accept them as postage. Which all seems rather odd.

I finally started mounting Romania onto Steiner pages. I find that I have a reasonably good starter collection, especially pre WWII

The stamp on stamp is topic makes it interested. I collected all the Redonda when I was getting monthly new issues from Herrick for specific countries. They sent me the first Redonda's and it looked good with royal family issues and wildlife. "Be the first to own this new hot item!" They even had one showing the island covered with lush vegetation and that a post office had been established on it. Not having any internet back then, one could not easily check that the island was in fact just a big rock The stamps were apparently issued in anticipation of commercial and tourist development and they were valid for postage in Antigua. The stamps were said to have a legitimate status like those inscribed Barbuda ?
Covers are known to exist
The nice issues became Disney scenes and I sold it to another forum member. Now they even issue coins made in China or "Chayyna" as some call it.

Another attempt at cataloging more Turkey. It would be much easier if the cat didn't lay on top of the catalog.I seem to take a lot of breaks out of frustration..

Once again I have been taken away from stamps. Just had a scary diagnosis on Thursday. I have to wait until the end of the month to see a specialist. Hopefully it won't worsen. I was freaking out for much of the past two days, but have calmed down somewhat today. I'll head out this aft for a long walk in the park. Just uploaded a couple of Luxembourg items. I think that is about it for me today. Oh yes, and renden ... the stick arrived. Thanks very much. Some Luxembourg covers are on the way Monday (hopefully) along with the stick.

I received a copy of Nassau Street by Herman Herst, Jr. that I got on eBay. Although I read it years ago, I started re-reading it and am having trouble putting it down. I highly recommend this book if you want an eyewitness account of the “golden age” of stamp collecting in New York. I also worked out a trade via email with a friend in Ireland for copies of the upcoming Irish Coast Guard issues.

As predicted in a post I made for the 'New Year Resolution' thread, the year has so far been a bit of a bummer. (it's only 6 days in !!) Having some enforced sick leave gave me the false impression I would have some quiet stamping time but it did not turn out that way, at least not today anyway. After spending longer both at the Doctors and with my Grandson, I came home to sit with my stamps. Surely now was the time ? No ! The strong winds and driving rains forced the electricity in our area to switch off (power cut!) No stamps. So I sat reading 'The Error World' (See 'What's in your Library') huddled up with a blanket by the emergency light for 2 hours, waiting for the Israel Electricity Company to do their stuff. In between all these interruptions, I did mange to mail packets to angore, Beryllium Guy and sherro !! So all was not lost in the 'Stamping' stakes !! Londonbus1

I spent a lot of time this weekend printing pages and mounting stamps I purchased from stamporama's approval section.. This include Malaysia and states along with Tristan de Cunha and Dominica. I realize that many of the post 70's stamps from the island countries were mainly for stamp collectors but at least they were usually quality printing, attractive, and large unlike some of the blurring printings from US.
My new stamp room is almost done. We got the local COO (certificate of occupancy) but still needs carpet.

I've been totally unstampy. Been on Sri Lanka for 3 weeks, and the closest I came to stamping was a visit to one of the oldest Post Offices in Ceylon, in Nuwara Eliya. Upon arrival back home, I found a gift in my mailbox from Santa Claus in NB. A large envelope with some beautiful Canadian stamps I've never seen before - filled with lots stamps from around the world, all picked for their nice postmarks: Absolutely brilliant, thank you so much renden

Working on scanning (and inventorying) some of the more interesting items I've accumulated in 50 years of philatelic adventures. Many will be posted in this forum soon, as it's always a pleasure seeing items from others that stimulate a previous interest or jog an old memory of happy stamp times past. Hopefully my posts will inspire similar thoughts in others to rekindle stamping enthusiasm.
Balloon mail, early Austria, German Inflation covers and more Cinderellas/back-of-the-book (B.O.B.) from France Germany and elsewhere will likely dominate.
I'll keep you posted!!!

Yesterday I bought some photo boxes at Michael's (arts and crafts store) on sale. Today I sorted all my Christmas postcards and covers in Box 1. All my US & WW postcards in Box 2. This included sorting them all out by country. All my US & WW covers in Box 3. I still need to sort them by country but I wanted to get back to working on my US albums.
